Completed this yesterday with my husband & our pup. Possibly my favorite trail so far in the PNW. We were originally going to just to the wahkeena loop but kept going toward multnomah (which this hike describes) and I’m so glad we did! Gnarly elevation gain at the beginning but the rest is pretty nice up and down. The waterfalls are incredible. Few people, it was a cold and rainy day. Multnomah wasn’t as busy as usual too, which was really nice. Highly recommend!!

super fun and easy for how much snow there is. just follow our tracks.

It was a nice hike and not too difficult. my 14yo son hiked with me and was able to do it. Weather was overcast and some of the trail was slick especially on the north side with less sun but overall a great day out.

We made it all the way up! Recorded only the way down. The incline was very steep the entire way. We didn’t see any views because it was pouring rain. It was still a wonderful hike.

It was an intense lung workout to the misery summit. I felt vertigo and altitude sickness just because I’m not trained in doing such cardio so quickly. Hearing fellow hikers say they were so busy focusing on their misery on the way up was hilarious. You feel their pain. You can take it at your own pace but the steps and trail up is quiet narrow and wet so trying to avoid running into people can be hard. The hike down was the best part aside from the summit. Recommend time to get this hike done about 2 to 2 1/2 hours. So exhilarating!

Turned around after the sun set. Beautiful trail can’t wait to go back and finish it!

Climbed to the summit via Old Chute on 12/30/19. Good boot pack and solid snow made it easy. Started at 7am and reached the summit at 10:30am.

Beautiful hike. Micro spikes did just fine.

Initial climb is quite steep and backside was a bit snowy/slick. Overall a really nice, sunny hike.

Made a late December ascent. Trail is fairly well defined, and if lost, it is easy to simply follow the Palmer lift. Winds were very high past the lift station. Ropes were not needed on the Hogsback, and the Bergschrund was closed. Quickly discovered that Pearly Gates is no longer a viable approach during the winter without technical climbing gear, as a large ice step blocks the path shortly before the chute splits. Old Chute is a far more viable option during the winter, but use your own discretion.

Micro spikes a must but not quite snowshoe worthy. The road up is a tad snowy but manageable to anyone who knows how to drive in slick conditions. The A-frame is cool (no dogs allowed inside ) and the couple staying there were real friendly

I did the Tilly Jane trail to East Elliot Moraine trail. The trail is pretty packed down. I did not use snowshoes or microspikes until I got past the Tilly Jane cabin towards the traverse. It was a little slick there and the snow increased significantly beyond this point so snowshoes were helpful. I wore them all the way up to the Moraine Ridge and back down to the cabin. At the cabin I took the snowshoes off and put on microspikes, these aren't absolutely necessary but they just made life easier on the descent. Such a fun hike though!

We took this hike two years ago with our (then) 3 year old before any reviews had been posted. Great hike with spectacular views but definitely not kid friendly. Steep drops, narrow trail, loose gravel = feeling you are an irresponsible parent.

Well worth it! Amazing views. When coming down make sure you stay to the the right otherwise you’ll follow the PCT.

Trail is still good; wet conditions and cloudy weather make the lush green moss and running white combination look even more beautiful.
