I've stayed away from Trillium Lake for years due to the crowds. Today I went up early and it didn't matter as the parking lot was already half full. When we left, cars were parked all the way out in Hwy 26. It was pretty but just way too many people. This is the Disneyland of trails.

why is this called a "trail"? it's a road.

Size 12 Keen hiking boots left in parking lot of trail. If found please contact esnodgrass@aliveintegrative.com

Very pleasant winter hike. Great trails.

I have to agree with a previous post that Green Peak Falls was worth it. We were a little confused thinking “campsite 3” was at the start of the hike (we started at the Alsea Falls picnic area) rather then down the trail some ways. We made a couple wrong turns but stuck with it and found our way! Glad we did. Would have gave it 4 stars had the trail been marked a bit better.

Overall good snowshoeing conditions. If you are hoping to do the true Trillium Lake Loop for snowshoeing you will be disappointed as many have been hiking on it, so it’s muddy. However, if you stay on the campground/road loop around the lake you will be happy. Still great views of the lake. On average would say snow is 6-8” on the ground.

Great hike around the loop today even though we couldn't see the views of 'her majesty' through the gray sky. We carried our snowshoes the whole time. Not a huge amount of snow and it was packed down. Not too crowded on the first part of our hike. The last stretch fresh powder was falling down hard.

Beautiful day with light snowfall. I started late at 1pm so it was VERY busy. Parking hard to find. No chains required today though. Many people were snowshoeing, skiing, and sledding. It had been a while since I was here, so I forgot that it’s 2 miles in from the trailhead just to get to the lake. Which makes this a 6 mile trek if you do the whole thing. Was not prepared for that this late in the day with sun going down. Recommend starting early if you want to do the whole thing! Otherwise great day and amazing pics.

to access Green Peak Falls which is the real stunner here.. you must hang a right turn INTO the campsite #3 and the small sign for the trail is on the back side of campsite along the tree line. It is NOT up the gravel road past the gate.

These falls are beautiful! Alsea is right by the parking lot. To get to Green Peak falls you have to cross the bridge by the parking lot and follow the trail. when you come to a tree that says campsite 4 is on the left then you need to make sure you go right. you will come to another area that has a bridge to the left. Pass the bridge and on the right is campsite 3. To the left of campsite 3 is the rest of the trail to the other falls. This hike is worth it! Both falls are gorgeous!!!!

This trail is not accessible or maintained starting from Packsaddle or Minto parks for hiking. the trail also shows you have to be in the river in numerous places! What the heck?????

very nice trail. The main asphalt path through the lava flows disappears at times and you have to walk over the lava flow to connect to the rest of the trail. Would have finished the reason but I came across a wolf and decided I was done.

super easy 2 mile trek to the lake. I used the closed off road as were a lot of people. alot of skiers and snowshoes. I used my soloman hiking shoes with no trouble. hard packed snow. the lake looks completely frozen over, I didnt trust it so I stayed around the edges.

Trail with history is always a plus. Started from parking area and went to the bridge and along the park trail. Went left at end and went along roadside which has a nice path. Nice easy hike/run

Very easy hike that's great for all ages... there's no hills, dropoffs or anything like that, so it's very safe. I took my mom here for an easy hike after she'd been in the hospital for weeks. It's very beautiful here. I should note that it is basically in a campground so it doesn't feel like you're really in the middle of nature so much, but enjoyable nonetheless. Did this in June and it was a little chilly part of the time, but pretty great weather overall.

Beautiful dog friendly trail following the river. Very muddy much of the way and patches of ice in areas. Pretty easy walk

Great little beach. One of my favorites...

Nice for winter hiking. Road very packed down today, without need for snowshoes or spikes. I think this would be quite a boring hike in summer, but is quite beautiful in the snow. Our dogs loved it. (You have to hike from the gate down, to get to the loop, it adds another mile or so roundtrip.) more crowded on a weekday afternoon than I would like to see.

This was a wonderful trail to snowshoe! It was very peaceful and not too busy. We saw some people cross country skiing too! Highly recommend as a fun winter hike.

Great winter hike!! We brought snowshoes and microspikes. Ended up wearing the spikes most of the time bc the snow was pretty packed because it’s such a busy family-friendly trail. But after a fresh snow, snowshoes would be great. Start early! We headed out at 9:30am on a Sunday and it was sooo quiet and pleasant. A lot more people on the hike back and parking lot was pretty full when we left. Recommend!! Lots of fun side trails.

Went for a night hike and it was by far the most beautiful adventures I’ve ever done or have seen. The road in is shut down so we walked to the lake but didn’t do the loop around the lake. On the dock we had an absolutely stunning night view of mount hood, an almost full moon, shooting stars everywhere, and trillium lake was freezing over. it was magical. We didn’t need snowshoes and we didn’t have spikes and it was totally fine but I’m sure things change over night for what would be best. 10/10 recommend this as a night hike if you’re good with that.
