I always love hiking at Turkey, but today (1-27) it was super muddy, almost flooded in some places. Totally passable in hiking boots (luckily I was wearing mine), but maybe not so much if you were in tennis shoes. I did the yellow trail only, so I’m not sure about Pink or Blue conditions today.

This trail is shared by hikers and horses, so it can be sloppy and muddy in parts after a rain. It is well marked. There were a handful of parts with deep wide standing water that required some bushwhacking to get around. Not hard, just an obstacle to go around. Most creeks are easy to cross by stepping over them or by balancing on a single rock or down branches. There is one wide creek crossing (7-10 ft wide) on the southern most end of trail that is deep, about half-shin deep. In the summer, this trail might get thick with undergrowth and tall grasses, and probably lots of ticks. On this warm, beautiful January day, I had a blast on this trail. Some nice views of the lake. Good mix of mostly wooded areas with some open areas.

The trails were a lot of fun and we enjoyed the views of the lake. There is a bit of debris in the area (presumably from dumping and previous flooding), but nothing that couldn't be fixed with a community clean-up. The trails were easy to navigate and just muddy enough that we saw some really cool paw prints. We will be back to complete the entire loop on another day.

The city has the yellow trail at 4.4 miles, my gps/phone showed 4.19 miles after i finished. Great trail a little muddy.

Trail is very well identified and marked. Did the route with an 8 year old and 3 year old with no issues. Scenery is ok but power lines and cell towers ruin the look.

Beautiful trail all year round. Views of the Arkansas River and of the city but still being secluded in the trees. Large cliffs and boulders. Incline is variable. I love this trail and have enjoyed it for years!!

We hiked from the information lodge to Inspiration Point. It was lovely. In spite of the rains this week, the trail had very few muddy places, and the views were great from the top. Info lodge restrooms were very clean!

I wish I’d started on the Lodge trailhead first and gone the same route I did but south to north instead so I could linger in the near rocky areas and bluffs first then have the flat forest to end with. But either way I had fun. Took my camera so I was constantly stopping otherwise it would have taken me only 1.5-2 hrs at my usual pace. I want to cone back in the fall! I left on Coon Creek trail intending to go to Coon Creek Camp, hop the creek and continue south on the Multiuse trail BUT I lost the trail where it makes a sharp turn going uphill north of camp and it cost me some time. I was following the white squares and red paint down hill, the squares turned the paint kept going down hill, was utterly confusing till I back tracked. I got to the creek and camp at sundown and had 30 min till dark and forgot my headlamp so booked it on down the road/trail marked yellow that’s above the lake and followed it to the lodge where I’m staying the night for work and that is across the street from the trail head I left on. Coon creek would be a great easy going trail for kids I think.

Really nice trails, we did it the weekend after Christmas so it was nice and quite. Storms had filled the creeks and having our choice of camping spots made for a great trip. The western section (the side with the scenic over look) is tough going but good trail. Storm damage has make keeping up with the trail difficult at best in some areas (downloading the map and using gps helped us see when we got off trail). I see the areas people were complaining about the brambles in areas- wasn’t bad end of December. Really nice over looks on the western section as well. Great trail!

all trails needs to pull this hiking trail from its website very misleading. me and my wife drove all the way from tulsa 1.5 hours away did not read the requirements on the review page. wasted a lot of time. it is not open to the public you need a hunting or fishing license which will cost each person around 15 bucks. very misleading alltrails please pull this hiking trails due to the fact that it's not free to the public and you have to have id to buying fishing license and pay 30 for two people to hike ??? oklahoma bs....

Good trail but too traffic and a lot of unleashed dogs.

Nice views at the top. The trail itself has a lot of loose rocks and leaves on it.

This is a great trail. Had a lot of fun today. Lots of cactus so be careful if you bring your dogs.

If you don’t camp on the state park which is by the ranger station where ya gotta check in anyways, the camping is completely free! There are still bathrooms and shower with hot water at the ranger station. I thought I was gonna start on rocky point but to get to it you have to start on carnasaw nature trail. I don’t recommend rocky point for first timers, the trails are not well marked and I got lost a few times and it is definitely a workout. I think next time I’ll start at west branch which is off the road before you get to the parking area. So bypass rocky point and hit bugaboo and go from there. Other then rocky point the other trails are well marked and it was a really great experience. A lot of horseback riding and mountain biking is done here I noticed. Highly recommend this hike and check out my recording. Didn’t do the loop since I was solo and it was the first time at this area.

This trail is different than most of the other ones in this area of Oklahoma. Great views!

Really a great route! Deserted & quiet; a couple challenging elevation changes; some creek crossings with logs to walk across; great views of the lake and forrest; even a couple picnic tables on either side of the lake... one of which I have no clue how they got into the middle of the woods. This is really a hidden gem. 70lb pack. Full loop.
