This was one of the worst experiences. I went around the gate like all the other reviews but when I reached the end of the road or so I thought, I can to a large yellow grassy patch of overlook. I went down a winding gravel trail and stumbled upon an actual house. Felt as though I was for sure trespassing. The directions should be more clear. Maybe I should have veered left instead of heading into the clearing? I don’t know. But this should probably be taken off of All Trails and y’all should use a public access point. Very shady and sketchy. I had a fear the police were going to come run my tags on my car and tow it while I was “hiking”. Not a fan. Luckily, it was a nice and sunny day.

Really enjoyed this short trail. We completed the entire thing and also most of the herd trails at the top. It made for about 4.7 miles and around 950 feet of elevation gain. I enjoyed the walk down the mountain on the old forest road. There were views along the ridge and then off the side throughout the hike. I think this section is likely at its best in the winter when you can see the mountains and cliffs across the valley. The view at the top is lovely and it was fun to explore the different herd paths. Felt like another beautiful view kept popping up around every corner. But I liked it all. Don’t skip the walk down. It’s not that bad coming up and you get to experience the view again. Be aware that there is very little parking at the trailhead. I would say maybe five cars total could fit comfortably there. Also, watch your surroundings. We saw several piles of bear poop on the road section of the trail.

Hiked 1/26/2920, absolutely beautiful day, beautiful view, hike is easy, met two guys hiking on the trail from Pennsylvania, like wow! they had been on the trail for 6 weeks, they were going to the town of hot springs to restock the food supply,

Highly recommend this destination! So much to see here! I would recommend that you do your research on which trails that you plan on taking and map your course

A moderate hike. Uphill a majority of the way. The trail itself is beautiful and well kept with lots of streams and small falls. The view at the top was pretty, but definitely only can be seen in the winter. If there was any foliage on the trees, then it would be obscured.

Great trail. Heavily trafficked. It’s easy-moderate. Uphill the whole way, but a steady grade. Beautiful views at the top. Dog friendly, but must be on leash.

My husband and I did this hike with a few friends a few weeks ago. It was a beautiful and sunny day but super chilly because of the wind! It was also the day after a big rainstorm so this whole hike was super muddy. We brought out pup and he was sliding through the mud so we had to pick him up through a couple parts! Lol but I can’t wait to do this hike again when it’s spring/summer!

Beautiful view at the top!

Bridge out for repair 0.8 miles from trailhead.

As of January 26th, 2020 the boardwalk is still closed. Otherwise it was good.

Nice new wooden/cement trails. Little less than a mile and perfect for a quick walk. Has picnic areas and a new playground. My dogs loved this park.

I went hiking again today at Baker’s Mountain. Despite all the rain we had Thursday night into all day Friday… There were no muddy spots on the trail. This trail is well marked and maintained. With the nice weather today the park was packed. It’s always a good workout to the top, with an amazing view. The park has picnic tables and clean bathrooms. There is always a forest ranger on duty there. The park hours are now 9 AM until 5 PM and closed on Wednesdays. It’s a nice place to go hiking.

Nice trail but there are a lot of unmarked off-shoots. Falls are not marked on trail but a path does lead down. Great park for kids too.

Short loop through the woods at Cedar Falls Park across the street from E. Chapel Hill High, some good climbs. You have to go off trail to reach the falls. Great for kids and a good running trail, the trailhead exits right from the paved path to the tennis courts just past the blue playground area. Stay on the purple blazed marked path all the way around. You can hear the waterfall which is really just a series of small chutes, access is down a couple of side trails. Overall nice loop.

Fun trail system. Really 2 separate trails. Windy by the lake. Very pretty, even in the winter

Paved trail. Not what I was looking for. That said, it was very clean, pretty and easy. Lots of shade (even in winter with bare trees). Nice playgrounds throughout for kids and nice picnic areas. Far too “civilized” for my tastes.
