My absolute favorite hike, ever. It's insanely crowded almost always for a reason.

Highly recommended for a half day of snowshoeing. Lightly traveled in winter. Old forest with large diameter trees. I believe this section of forest preserve was some of the first lands acquired by the state of New York. Beautiful winter scenery along with solitude.

Nice trail. Few inches of fresh snow. No need for traction devices today. Last half mile is a work out. Nice views and two nice lean to’s along the way

Do this trail in the winter if you like serenity and adventure. Flurries to start, flurries to end. What a trail but I wouldn’t want to go this way in any Season other than winter. Thick forest along the snowmobile trail as you circumnavigate rountop Mt. yes in winter if you like Rocks, Ice. Snow, Breaking trail. Be prepared to leave your car .6 miles from the trail head and hoof it. Be ready to Scramble. Bushwack while gazing at Stunning rock formations and Really quite wild. Be prepared for the shortish but very steep ascent toward the summit. Then keep going. You’ll get there, a flat wooded summit and your a canister. Either take the loop back or backtrack like we did. Didn’t want to risk steeper ledges, more trail breaking and the unknown. Amazing day in the cats

I would recommend the green trail for people looking for an easy hike. If you just do a green trail it’s about 30 minutes in and 30 minutes back out. I did the Greentrail out and then took the red trail back for a total of two hours. The red trail is a moderate level hike with lots of climbs and several rope pulls for the last 10 feet.

Easy hike to a beautiful snow-covered pond looking at Whiteface. About a half-foot of powder and was the first one to break trail. There are 2 very large trees downed, causing traffic to go way around them.

It was absolutely beautiful but a bit crowded for my taste. It was a weekday too so I think I had expectations of it being a little more solitary. But the lake itself and the beautiful scenery was totally worth it. Very easy trail too, nice loop around dirt walking path.

Hiked this trail on 1/11/20 as part of the ADK 6 Pack Challenge. It was the longest of the challenge (Strava clocked it at 10.3 miles round trip) so we were excited to cross it off the list and enjoy the view from the top. This trail was fairly easy with only minimal elevation gain for the first 4 miles, then it started to climb. There was about 1,800 feet of elevation gain. Average speed was 2.3 miles per hour. Took a little over 4 hours (moving time) according to Strava. The weather this day was abnormally warm for January with temps in the 50s and even reaching the low 60s in some places. This caused a lot of slushy snow and the trail turned into more of a stream as the day went on. It rained most of the way down and we were pretty soggy by the time we reached the trailhead- happy temps were warm and we were wearing wool socks so feet stayed warm despite being wet.

Not only do you need a permit, but to get one you need to live in either, Victor, East Bloomfield or West Bloomfield.

Nice loop trail in East Greenbush town park. A little muddy due to the recent warm weather but nice walk by a stream if you have boots on. Seemed to be dog friendly trails.
