This was a moderate to hard hike. First 3/4 mile is straight up hill and then a gradual ascend. We went out and back on the white trail because green coming back in the loop was snow covered. Great views from the tower.

I just completed a day hike from Batona camp to Lower Forge camp. Just over 6 miles, It was a chilly day and over cast. A nice easy hike and marked very well. Next time I’ll go north.

I went to Stokes State Forest this past weekend, was unseasonable warm and turned out to be a beautiful day for a hike! However, I was originally going to go to Sunrise mountain but, for some unknown reason, the road leading to the summit and the pavilion was closed. Haven't been here since I was a kid and then, never actually went on the trails here before, I have hike in different parts of the state including High Point. Anyhoo, I hiked and part of this trail on the green tower. Not all the way, the green trail is about 1.6 miles and described in the map that I got from the office as difficult. It is a bit Rocky and was a bit muddy as it rained earlier Sunday morning. there are some lovely streams and evergreens when you do go up on it. I'll have to come back here in spring time. It is also bear country, so you would have to careful, the trails are well marked. Hopefully the road to the summit will be open. Sunrise mountain is the second highest point in NJ. And right on the Appalachian trail. Very beautiful place and friendly passbyers too!

Great trail.. good workout.. trail was well marked.. Start of the trail we see a beautiful stream.. sunfish pond was partly frozen. When we reached sunfish pond we saw a few freshly burnt wood!! even though it was clearly mentioned as “No ground fires” on the Information board! hopefully people understand the importance..

Beautiful cold day. layers required!

This is a great trail but I would wait until it’s warmer out! LOT’s of trees down and several creek crossings! I will be back to do it again!

I’ve been hiking this trail since I was 5 years old (30 years). It’s a great little hike that’s super flat and accessible. I’ve only ever hiked it in the Fall and usually around thanksgiving, so it’s super open and you can see all around.

Great trip with the scouts, cold trip in November to lower forge. Trail conditions perfect.

Went up Mullica River and Basto Lake Roads Out and Back

So it’s a nice walk until someone comes from the other direction or wants to pass anyone else. For the time, effort, and money spent you’d think they would have made it at least a foot (12 inches) wider at least.
