**Big water pools in trail at M17 on Hamblett Nash Trail.** Nice trails, aside from additional smaller wet areas. Someone else poorly reviewed the locals, which I thought was funny until an (albeit, nice) police officer indicated I couldn’t park on the side of the quiet, plowed, highly visible road when the downhill parking area hadn’t been plowed yet after a (6”) snow storm; but when I came off the trail, the lot had been plowed, so maybe he put a call in. So we’re cool. And there were some friendly people on the trail, so the locals are fine. ;)

Wonderful truck on a Sunday afternoon after about 8 inches of fresh snow overnight. It’s a real treat that the state of NH has officially opened this up for hiking in the winter time!

Some ice under the snow on downhill areas but, what else would you expect in NH in January:)

Always a great hike. Walked across the lake to the hut, however, one portion seemed slushy so any warm temperatures and I wouldn’t recommend it. But I do highly recommend bringing a small sled for the way down.

Was a very pretty winter walk. Took the dog who loved it. People used snowshoes and skis bit I was fine in spikes. Very easy walk with not much elevation gain.

A few icy scrambles- micro spikes are needed. Views from the Fire Tower make this hike one of the best in the Whites

Up and down valley way, micro spikes the whole way. Packed down nicely. Airline cutoff is untraveled, deep drifts. Awesome hike.

Broke trail with the showshoes the entire way up. Visibility wasn't the best but still a great hike.

Accidentally left the gps on once I left. Managed this trail in regular hiking boots after 5” of snow the night prior. Easy trail for the dog.

Don’t let the short distance fool you - there is a lot of elevation change so this hike is no joke! Add another mile for hiking up from the closed gate in winter. Absolutely need some sort of traction/micro spikes to make it up the road and up the trails - decent amount of ice and packed snow that people without traction were really struggling. Wished I’d also brought my trekking poles. Lots of mud and water on the trail, but we hiked on that 55 degree day.

Great trail with little to no incline. Trail is well maintained and marked. Multiple little trails to venture off on. Kid friendly and dog friendly. I did have my dog off leash as there were no signs saying they had to be. Looks like their may be snowmobile trails as well, so be careful during snowy days as it did seem like a frequently used trail. Will definitely go back. There is parking right after or before Richardson Road.
