Couldn't complete the loop! Started along the Lonesome Lake trail until the hut. Then proceeded the rest of the way up until the Kinsman ridge trail. There was a lot of snow and microspikes will not do the job here, crampons are recommend. It's a pretty steep and slippery ascent up. We got to the observation tower and headed towards the rest of the ridge, but the snow got waist deep at one point and we didn't have snow shoes to proceed further (near the tram). Had to turn back and take the same trail back down, it was a steep descent. Be prepared if you decide to do the full loop in winter. Bring extra layers, snowshoes, crampons and start your day early.

All seasons run/bike/walk trail. Some views here and there. Anything’s better than sitting in the house. Get out this trail is friendly to all levels.

It’s new and still growing, but a nice flat run/bike/walk overall Dog friendly - clean up after yourself please!

Wet leaves today and darkness fell on our way out

Beautiful trail through wooded areas, ponds, swamps, farms, and fields. Trail was very level with very little elevation change so it was an easy ride on our cruiser bikes. We missed peak foliage but there was still lots of color and although the trail was covered with leaves in spots, it didn’t hurt the ride. We started in Nashua, plenty of parking. The Ayer end is under construction and there was a detour to Main St. We had lunch at the Cottage House in Ayer then turned around for the return trip. The trail was well marked with mileage markers throughout.

Went up Hi-Cannon trail, down kinsman ridge trail to tram parking lot, then walked back to Lafayette campsite parking lot. Very steep and rocky on both trails, a lot of scrambling. Icy and muddy about 1mile to top either way. I would probably enjoy more if it's a summer day. But the views on the top are amazing. We saw frozen Lafayette ridge on one side, and late foliage on the other side. There is a cafeteria on top for food, but no soup which was a bummer on a cold day.

Took our cruiser bikes out today. We were afraid there might be trees down from the storm, but there were not. Completely passable and in fact on our way back, the trail was even free of leaves.

Good small walk on a work day

Great for biking and enjoying the outside for a while! Lovely scenic spots and lots of wildlife!

Arguably the best drive to see fall colors... if you're driving in the fall, try taking it from East to West in the morning, as the sunlight hits the trees as you take the curvy roads, and vice versa if its in the late afternoon. plan a whole day or MORE, as there are a number of trails that need to be explored...

We hiked this counterclockwise Kinsman Trail from the Tram parking. I suggest parking here for hiking in either direction for ease of parking. The first mile in this direction is intense but sprinkled with views along the way. It was icy in areas where mud and water had been transferred. Proper shoe attire is a must. The lookout is amazing and I could have spent all day there. We took Kinsman Ridge Trail to Lonesome Lake Trail and stopped in at the hut. A dusk hike through the bog made a magical experience for moose and the sunset.

Great colors! Plenty of great stops for vistas and short hikes.

Easy trail

Once I found the Trail Head, I able to figure which direction to head out. There were no maps or signs. But once I asked around I was able to enjoy the approximate 30 mile adventure to and from with great sights and smooth conditions. Surprised it was all asphalt and in great condition with maybe a few bumps.

nice for the most part. a little overgrown but still i had a nice walk

I found this to be a great trail to ride our ATV on! It’s flat and bumpy ! Everyone we encountered seem to know the rules of trail riding. We saw a couple of runners, we kept our speed to a crawl to be respectful. All in all we will definitely be back! I actually prefer this to the trails up north...especially with kids riding!
