Awesome view from the top! The hike back down is not as exciting as far as views, but overall I loved it!

Great trail for snow shoeing.

No signs at the parking lot and there are too many trails and there are not clearly marked. We got lost in the middle and had to do a large loop. It’s a good experience though.

Fun little trail close to town. Went just as the sun was coming up so the ground was frozen and no worries with mud. There were already a few other groups in the area when I was returning to the car. Very convenient!

Great winter early morning hike for my dog and myself. Finally saw wild horses in several areas, which was a nice treat to a Reno newcomer like myself. Somewhat rugged, but never bad even with a thin snow cover. Hiking shoes or boots are a must. I will bring friends from out of town on this hike. Impressive for how close it is to everything.

Full little loop, not too busy. Be careful this time of year, there was bear poop on the trail.

Well marked, safe, beautiful views!

An up and down - out and back. Not too steep. Nice views at the very top - Boulder City, LV and Lake Mead. First third of trail needed to rely heavily on map..., on a quick portion in the way back in that same area. Fun to run down the trail - and aspire to run up it someday. Will definitely keep it as a repeat trail.

A good, short drive behind the campgrounds. Any hike or walk into the rock formations is much worth the effort of all the treasures you’ll find!

good hike, pretty steep but fun! altogether easy

What a great hike! The trail is really easy to follow, despite the occasional smattering of snow on the north side of the ridge. It’s pretty much a constant uphill grade the whole way, although there are a few short sections where the slope softens. AllTrails has the hike at 6.1 miles round trip, but in my experience it was more than 7. I took about 4.5 hours round-trip. I’d rate this as “strenuous” given the relentless up, up, up, up, up of the trail. But it does not require any special gear or climbing with your hands. As others have noted, the road is a good dozen + miles of desert washboard, but anything with decent clearance and AWD/4WD won’t have any issues. I did it in a newish Discovery with the air suspension raised all the way up and the ride was a breeze. On the drive in and up the trail I was completely alone. 100% solitude. As I ascended I was treated to my own private air show when a series of low-flying jets made their way back to Nellis. First it was a pair of F-15s, then a pair of A-10s, then a flight of F-16s in USAF Thunderbird livery, then some more A-10s, more F-16s, and finally a C-17. The view from the top is just spectacular. I’m a long-time resident of Vegas and frequent hiker, but I’ve never seen quite this view of the city. At the summit I was subjected to some pretty intense wind. Packing an extra layer is advisable if you’re going to hang out up there for a while. However, by taking a few steps down the leeward side of the ridge I was able to mostly stay out of the wind. In summary, I recommend this hike if you’re looking for some solitude, you have a good bit of time to kill, and you’re looking for a real visual payoff at the peak.

Terrific trail with some amazing views. Not hard at all. Minimum incline at start. Lots of intersections from the bikes but not hard to follow. Carried a 35# pack for practice and used poles as well. Parking lot is a little sketchy but had no issues. Was concerned as the trail head is not marked and lots of trash laying around. Almost drove off.

I had a really good time on this trail. Looks like it was made by a group of local trail bikers. They did a great job! There is some glass on the trail on the west side of the hill. It clears up on the northern and eastern sides. I left the app trail and went to the top of rattlesnake hill and there was way more glass up there. Pretty cool to see the chunks of cement in the middle of the desert marking the trail. Nice little bridge over a wash. You can tell that someone is caring for this trail. Didn't see a single rattlesnake, and I'm glad for that!

This trail is surprisingly easy to follow despite the crazy twists and turns. Looks to be well used by the local trail bikers. They did a great job separating it from Rattlesnake Hill Loop. The dog gave up on all the twists and turns and just followed me, it was that crazy! It was difficult to find a start for the trail. I ended up parking in a turn around after using the app to find the closest spot. Parking at the cemetery was quiet a ways from the trail.

The view from the top was great but it was really rocky and steep. Glad to have done it once.

The starting point was absolutely confusing to find. There is no “trail” you walk on a road for a couple of miles. If it is a windy day you are in the full of it at the beginning. We stopped after 2 1/2 miles and plan to drive that part to start after there onto the mountain side. Hopefully that part will be nice as the first few miles did not see the river at all.

Nice and easy trail with good views of Reno. Lots of dog poop around though which there’s really no excuse for since there are doggy bags and trashcans everywhere. Not the parks fault.
