These trails are surprisingly good, with varied elevation and decent river views. It's most crowded right around the falls, but traffic drops off pretty sharply once you get past them, and especially after you cross over Owen Landing. At times there can be some bike/horse traffic on this portion of the trails, but there are enough side paths and offshoots to avoid too many collisions, and there usually aren't too many hikers crowding around. It's true that many of these trails aren't marked, but they all eventually lead to the same place, or back to the main trail. It's not overly difficult to find your way back, even without a map. The trails do tend to be muddy though, especially after Owen Landing. If you're trying to hike outside of Omaha and don't have time to go to Indian Cave (south) or Ponca (north), this is about the best you can do.

This is an excellent hike, with several trails combined for a loop that features a variety of terrain and difficulty. There are some steep ascents topped off by expansive views of the Missouri River, the valley, and the surrounding wooded hills.

Sad to see that for some reason Nebraska Game and Parks has allowed the mountain bikers to overrun the place. trail offshoots everywhere. obstacles and mounds intentionally added to existing trails. just seems like they've given the trails over to them and hikers be damned.

Overall great!

A little windy today, but still a great trail.

Mix of Tall Grass Prairie, Burr Oak and Missouri Floodplain. Mostly wide, smooth trail. Columbine side trail is steeper, rougher and can be wet.

Photographers were starting to block all the pathways by 1:30pm on Sunday

Nice trail, albeit a short one. You have to cover every inch, repeatedly, to get any distance but still fun. Well maintained, and a clean park. Decent shelters.

Overall, the hike is a lot of fun. There a ton of different paths you can venture to and lots of natural beauty to enjoy. The teepee are is really cool and the Lincoln Journal tower is worth the climb to the top to be reward with awesome views of the park, the Platte River, and the Missouri River. This is definitely a moderate hike in some areas not just because of distance, but because there are steep ascents and descents in areas where the path is overgrown or not very well maintained. The are close to 0 trail markers and the map provided by the park can be challenging to follow if you have a challenged sense of direction. Despite all that, this is a hike worth doing. The park is beautiful, the falls are lovely, and it provided enough of a challenge to make it exciting. We saw a few people but it was not overly crowded. If you can end you hike by the creek where you will be rewarded with beautiful views and nice areas to fish, stroll, or simply sit and enjoy some time with nature.

Awesome scenery. Very peaceful. If you own dogs, the west side of the park has a no dog policy due to bison and other wildlife. East part is fine.

Dog friendly, generally quiet this time of year. Clean well marked. No bathroom

Empty at this time of year, very quiet, no one tending the building but there is a porta potty outside

Wonderful 1 mile walk around a small lake. Path is asphalt and the walk was a perfect opportunity to stretch my legs on a long car trip. Bathrooms were locked up for the season in early November.

Great trail for a fun afternoon. Some of the trail needs more upkeep and the paths aren’t clearly marked, but it’s not challenging to figure out your way. There are also plenty of areas for resting and refueling along the way. The cover of the trees makes the entire hike very shady and beautiful. This is not a paved hiked and it involves a few sets of steps/stairs.

Our family really enjoyed this trail. Made it with a 5,6 and 7 year old. They loved the small tunnel that is approximately half way through the trail. Entire trail is paved. At one portion of the trail it's straight down on one side and no guard rails, so watch your kids closely. outside of that, they'll have fun! No matter what time of year, be prepared for some wind.

Platte River SP has a pretty good system of trails. I read the prior reviews regarding the trails not being marked, and was hesitant. Actually, that was part of the fun. You start out and go whatever way you want. If you as you have GPS, you can get back to where you started. The trail paths are well used and I was surprised with the amount of elevation change. Overall a great fall hike.

This is a nice lightly trafficked trail. It is gravel in some parts and paved in others. It runs to wilderness park.
