Great trail! About 10 minutes into the hike there’s a very icy area that you might not be able to get up without cleats. Beautiful and easy hike though! Dog friendly.

Great hike. Trail is entirely snow covered but very well-worn. Snowshoes are not required. Very few slippery spots. The falls is frozen. Great scenery.

We snowshoed this a few days ago and it was great! Trail was well marked, even after a lot of fresh snow. Saw no wildlife.

We snowshoed this and it was a blast! Starting from the Big Mountain main lodge, there’s a hard-to-spot trail to the right that immediately takes you through a tunnel that goes under the road. Continue on for another half mile until you reach a lake. At this point there are a network of Nordic trails of different levels going in all directions. We did (in order) Moosehoof, Badger Loop, Whitefish Trail (ungroomed), and back on Moosehoof. Then when we got back to the lodge, we continued snowshoeing up the main run under chairlift 6 until we reached the upper lodge where we are staying. All told it was about 7 miles. A very serene, beautiful trip for anybody who enjoys snowshoeing or cross country skiing! Note—dogs aren’t allowed on about half of the trails.

Hiked this in the final week of June 2019. It was AMAZING! The rangers don’t “recognize” the trail as one of their own but if you ask them where to enter they will help. (May need to if there is lots of snow on the ground as it is hard to find the goat path.) Took the route through the saddle between clements and Oberlin. The other option, through the scree, wears on the mountain and is not recommended. Some scrambling at the top. Saw goats, big horned sheep, marmots, and lots of wildflowers.

Nice trail. Great views of the Missoula valley too.

Absolutely worth it! My bf and I are not the most fit couple but we love to pick. A hike on our trips. We challenged ourselves and this trail did not disappoint. We took our time and there are a lot of beautiful spots to stop and drink water. My knees are not in perfect shape so and am glad that I brought my hiking sticks. Take lots of water and snacks. Saw a bear at the lake!

Great hike and conditions were.nicely packed and only require light traction. Was alerted to a mountain lion sighting by another homer about 3 miles in and heard him nearby. Didn’t make the top today but still a great hike

I parked at the road for Eagle’s Nest trailhead and walked to the Sagebrush Flats where I connected with the Milwaukee Road trail. It is all well maintained and groomed for winter activities like hiking, biking, and skiing.

This is a lovely trail that allows for many beautiful vantage points of the Bear Paw Mountains including Baldy. There are a few benches along the trail to stop at and enjoy the view. It takes you alongside Beaver Creek below the spillway. It is nicely maintained and has several switch backs that make climbing down into and back up rotary canyon very manageable.

Easy hike along board walks but spectacular

Trail was snow covered with little icy spots. High trafficked trail with both hikers and cross country skiers. Trail was well maintained and enjoyable to hike. Perk- port a potty available in parking lot and was pleasantly clean. I definitely will be back again!!

My favorite snow shoe hike around Bozeman! Wide open and gorgeous views. Just incredible

When you don’t want to slide off the icy road out to Hyalite with guests, stop here instead and let them work the steep but short slope. On a clear day, you get can a few decent views.

This is one of my favorite hikes. When it's snowy and icy I would recommend wearing ice cleats and having trekking poles or a walking stick.

Trail was pretty easy. Not really icy at all until the very top. Cold and windy though. No cover from the wind at the top

We loved this trail as you get to see both Crescent Lake and Hyalite Reservoir. I would agree with others, that there is a ton of foot traffic, but not a ton of signage. We were with people who have taken this trail a number of times before, so they knew were to go in order for us to actually loop around.
