Oct hike. about 2"snow on the ground. a crisp day. perfect for a hike around the lake. Highly recommended!

I LOVED this hike. Our crew has been doing a lot of hiking this year (that's new compared to years past). We found this one to be relatively easier than others we have done so far. But that doesn't mean it was easy. We definitely felt challenged. The beginning of the hike seems to be almost straight up with a lot of switchbacks. I lost count how many. We did encounter snow in the last half-ish mile to the lake. The lake was beautiful. I was thankful I brought extra stuff in my pack to sit on because otherwise we would have been sitting in snow for our lunch. We did take our lab (on a leash) and we had 2 young children on foot and a baby in tow. We encountered some people on dirt bikes but everyone was cordial and shared the path. Incredible views. Thankful we did it..

Some trees and branches had fallen from the latest wind storm. As of Sept 29, it's snowing lightly and some is sticking on the trail. Not slick yet, but be careful anyway. Trail is decent, but due to a fallen tree on the road, we had to park about 1 km (.6 mi) and walk to the trailhead.

This was a beautiful fall hike. Wonderful views of the Flathead Valley. Lots of rocks and roots along the trail. We did not realize motorized bikes were allowed on this trail. We saw ten! Passing these vehicles was difficult in some spots. We counted thirteen switchbacks up to the lake.

Started at 3pm finished at 5pm on a Saturday mid September. There were a few other people but for the most part very little traffic.

Breath taking scenery. Only gave it such a mediocre review because of the footing. If planning on taking horses make sure they are shod! Very very rocky the first three miles. If it wasn’t for that it would have been a perfect ride.

Great trail up to Fairy Lake. Took everyone’s advice and started from this lower trailhead. Didn’t attempt to take our rental car up the rough road to to the main trail head. Gravel all the way from main road up to trailhead but not an issue to drive. Plenty of parking at lower trail head. Was a very pleasant start and WOW what a hike! Beautiful views along the way and the lake is spectacular. Trail was pretty empty though lots of people around the lake.

This was a great hike! so many huckleberries on the way up!

Great hike.

This was a nice trail overall. Made for ATVs. This trail is out in the boonies. Make sure you have the time to get there. The road was rocky, but very manageable in trail shoes. The trail starts with a short ascent and the descends the rest of the way. Due to time constraints, we only went down about 1 3/4 miles. So, you have to go up to get back out. Not horrible, but I did see the elevation on my phone said about 7350. We’re flatlanders from Illinois and it didn’t prove to be much of a problem.

Nice, shaded gradual incline along the backside of the mountain. The lake is mesmerizing. Glad we hiked up to the lake from the lower trailhead. I don't think that our sedan would have made it through the deep divets on the road up. Wish we would have planned a few more hours to hike up to Sacagawea peak from the lake.

First two miles were steep, last mile gives you a break. Overgrowth wasn't bad at all. Lake isn't spectacular but good for a short hike.

Like others said, the top was overgrown, but did yield some tasty raspberries. We were slightly disappointed by the lake once we got to the top, but the hike itself is a great challenge that offers some spectacular views and chance to walk among ancient trees and spend some time in a peaceful spot.

Great hike. Started at the bottom of the trailhead with my Jack Russell. Didn’t see anyone on the trail up or down. We’re a significant amount of people around the lake. Dirt road, driving there, was fine.

Dad and I went out on Sunday morning, surprisingly, there was not a lot of traffic on the trail or at the trailhead, so it was a great, quiet hike most of the way! Parts were pretty rocky and others muddy and a little slick with a ton of bugs in the shade; but overall, a great almost 6 mile loop!

Worth the hike but definitely wear long socks and bug spray. A lot of flies on this hike.

Fairy Lake rivaled our hikes in Glacier. The lake is beautiful. We did make the mistake of driving to the lake instead of stopping at the fairy lake trailhead to hike up to the lake. However, it may have been a blessing because the horse flies were horrible. We went in the afternoon so I think morning would be better. The 7 mi road is extremely rough getting to the trailhead and even rougher the last mi to the lake if you opt out of the hike. Deep ruts making it almost impossible for most cars. We did see a grizzly cub driving to the lake... extremely exciting but only caught a glimpse because our vehicle scared it. Other than the flies and missing the trailhead the lake was absolutely breathtaking!!!!

Highly recommend! Choose the lower Trail head for a simple hike to the lake. Bring your fishing pole!

It was a little overgrown in areas, but overall a very good trail. Not very busy when we went. We started at 7 am. There were only 3 other cars at the trailhead.

Great hike and beautiful lake to dip in. First 2 plus miles are uphill at a pretty steep grade but the trail is mostly smooth. On this warm Tuesday in July I shared the trail with about 20 other folks. Couple of runoff creeks on the way for dogs to drink.

Trail is in excellent condition through the switchbacks and then it's somewhat overgrown. Lake is a nice destination. There is a small beach area that would make for a great place to swim. Our dog loved playing in the water. The trail is not hard as alltrails indicates. I'd say it's generally easy-moderate because footings are always easy (very level trail surface). The only thing that makes it difficult at all is the 1900 vertical feet in 2.5 miles.

The drive is great. I’d agree that most anyone in any care can make it to the first parking lot and then do the short hike to the rocks. However there were a two rockier/rutted areas that would require proper wheel placement to get through prior to the lot. The road from the first parking lot to the rocks is rough and rocky, but any higher clearance vehicle can do it. I’d say it was a 2 out of ten on the off-road scale. The rest of the road is 0-1.

Beautiful hike with a great lake to swim in at the top. Gets a little over grown away the top but no big deal. I'd say it's moderately difficult rather than hard. Didn't see any animals.

leads to horse tie up. good for trailer turn around. riding trail leads off from parking area.
