Great trail. Today just a little cold and muddy/icy. Had my son with me and he really wanted to fish, so we did. Nice time with him!

Great trail with varied landscapes, valley overlooks, bluffs, rocky terrain, hills. Will give you a good workout following the trail counter-clockwise. I have hiked it in the early summer and in mild winter. During the summer there is a lot of vegetation and lots of wildflowers in the valleys

Worth the hike, just be careful of rocks under leaves when leaves are on the trail. Other than that worth it! Wear good hiking shoes.

This trail was awesome, the colors, and river was clear, clean and moving pretty good. Crossed the river and hiked the other side for awhile. Definitely will be back!

Didn’t hike the full loop, but enjoyed the portion of the trail that we walked. We parked by the trailhead on Highway A and then hiked counter-clockwise to the summit of Bell Mountain. The trail was covered with leaves in many areas, but was still fairly easy to follow. Much of the trail was rocky and it had a fair amount of uphill and downhill portions, which made for a fun but slightly challenging hike. Because of the inclines and rocky paths, hiking up to the top of the mountain might not be the best idea for casual or beginner hikers. The view during the hike was pleasant enough, cool terrain and nice forest views. The view from the summit was top notch, possibly the best view I’ve come across in Missouri. From atop the rocky outcroppings, you can see for miles. The summit also had plenty of rock circles for building fires and lots of great areas to set up tents and hammocks. We did not see any goats or hogs, as other hikers have reported, but ran into another hiking group that said they saw a group of a few dozen hogs as they were walking the trail. The group said that the hogs looked them over once, and then ran off in the opposite direction. All in all, this was a great trail and we had a great time hiking it. I would recommend this for any hiking enthusiast, or anyone looking for a great view in Missouri. Date of trip: 1/4/20-1/5/20

Went to The Falls

A fun hike! The way down was kind of boring and felt a little easy, but the waterfalls were beautiful with the clearest water I’ve ever seen. The way back up was a bit harder, which I appreciated. Signed in at the register and maps were also provided. A beautiful spot I plan to visit again!

55* day today. My longest solo hike. Trail was nice. A bit sloppy in spots due to horse traffic but easy to get around. Recommend good sturdy shoes for this one.

Hiked with a friend both in our late twenties took us 6 hrs and 10 minutes to hike from Scour Trail Head to Taum Sauk highest point. The first 7 miles were a breeze then the rocks started to really take a toll. Total distance we reached were 13.5 miles. Beginning of January no tics or bugs. Falls were flowing but it has been some time since rain. Ankle turner and climb up the falls are huge steps. Make sure to stretch!

Nice hike, easy clean trail, 5-1/2 hours in and out with a 6 and 3 year old, plenty of exploring stops along the way. I’ve been looking forward to the falls for some time and it did not disappoint.

The north portion of this trail is blazed in blue (it is the same other as part of the Big Sugar Creek Trail). The south portion is blazed in orange. The entire trail is marked well.

Please see my review on the west trail for more information. I wanted to let everyone know that I finally spoke to the right person about hunting at Berry Bend and deer hunting IS ALLOWED. You will see no hunting signs but that only applies near the campgrounds. Out on the trails, hunting is allowed, and you will see dozens of deer stands visible from the trail. Best to avoid during firearms season. Starting counter clockwise on the yellow trail, the first 2 miles have the best views. The blue trail has the most hills. Several water crossings. Easy to cross during dry times. Possibly getting feet wet during wet times. Mostly well-marked trails. A couple of sections are a little difficult and without markers. I will upload my additional tracks eventually. So far I've done 13 of the entire 16 miles and plan to get the entire 16 miles tracked shortly. I will upload the final track of 16 miles when I'm done. This trail is great. But there are lots of annoying rocks. Plenty of hills. Beautiful views in the winter. I love this trail but not for beginners. Intermediate to hard trail for Missouri. Plan accordingly. Happy Trails! tammyonthetrail.com
