Very well maintained trail system, with a clear map posted at the trailhead. The Lakeside Trail uses fine gravel, is well kept, and the most immediate trail in the park. I hiked that and the connecting Chatta trail. Great conditions even with heavy rains the day before

This is a fantastic trail, especially for beginners. It's a tad wider for the most part, adequate and frequent water sources.

My FKT of the Black Creek National Recreation Trail Recording. Time is a little off because I accidentally paused it but it’s close enough. My Strava time is the official one. Will post an actually review of the trail later.

This trail is a beautiful walk through the woods, but there are parts that split off onto other trails without any signage. Without the app, we wouldn’t have been able to stay on trail. Lots of banana spiders along the way. Ended up turning around about 2 miles in as it was pretty overgrown and we had already pulled some ticks off our dog. Ended up pulling two ticks off myself later on the walk back. Some spots pretty muddy as well. Would love to go try again after some trail maintenance!

Nice hike. 1.5 out 3 total back to car. Great nature break....Spotted two young white-tail and a large black snake.

So let me start by saying I really enjoyed my 2 hours on Richardson Creek Trail. I used to mountain bike these trails when I was a kid and they were in peak condition. It’s sad to see them in the condition they are. With that said the trail is still very rideable. There are still some fast sections that flow well there are still some tough climbs. I ride it on 10-5-2019. The temps were good. I ride slowly because there is a lot of over grown brush and quite a bit blow down. Honestly with a bit more use and a chain saw weekend the trail good be in good shape.

Well maintained, forested trail. Has several linked trails so you can customize the length of your hike.

This trail is not closed. The Tally’s trail is closed (yellow markings). We did cut the trail and walked the creek bed for a 1/2 mile.

A group of Mississippi hikers and I did this trail, Fairley Bridge to Janice Lansing. l’m quite the optimist but this trail was a challenge. It IS overgrown, grass and scrub brush up to your knees. I didn’t really find it too problematic, it just slowed us down. There was one spot on the trail near the Red Hills that was overgrown with brush/trees enough it obscured the trail. We pushed through and it opened back up to tolerable. About 5 miles into the twilight the first night, we stopped just short of the first accessible sandbar. Camped close to the trail near a bridge. Day two we did about 9 miles through the wilderness. The wilderness is far less overgrown with long stretches of pine needle trail cover. Saw a family of otter. Crossed the tree bridge (no rope, had to balance that one). Camped on a sandbar after a welcomed soak in the river. Last day shorter hike out 4-5 miles. There was very little water between sand bar camp (flagged “good camp site” on map) and exiting the wilderness. Probably one accessible water source, but it’s sketchy at best even with a Sawyer. The most grueling part is the road walk back to Janice, but there’s a flushing toilet and potable water that makes up for it a bit. Saw four snakes, all on our last day. One black snake and three copperheads. All in all, I’d do this again after the trail has been recleaned (I’d do the Wilderness section tomorrow if I had the energy). Note to hikers, do not attempt this hike without a Sawyer and electrolyte source. You’ll be glad you did.

Large majority of the Trail was closed for a control burning. Disappointing to drive so far only to have to turn around. No warnings online nor near the trail heads. The only warning available is when you get about 2.4 miles in, however it was only for 8/30 &8/31 and I hiked with two others on 9/1. The sign specifically asks to not continue the trail until the signs were taken down but the trail was beautiful. Very enriching winding hills and steep climbs throughout the section I hiked. Going to make an attempt to come back when it gets colder.

a bit overgrown but thats just fine. good deep south forest trail. saw a beautiful black racer.

Trail is very overgrown and some areas do not seem safe. Be cautious in these areas for snakes. Large banana spiders everywhere. Without these conditions I think this trail has great potential.

Trail has a wide variety of landscapes, such as fields, woodlands, and pine forests. It took me and three others 2.5 days to hike the entire trail. I suggest taking a hand held gps and two sets of extra batteries for it with you. We had one and it helped us stay on the trail in the parts where the trail is not so well kept up.
