Great, easy walk. Surprisingly scenic for the look of it. Borders several backyards and a major road for a short bit. The transitions between light and dark can be challenging at night.

Forgot to hit record for half the run

Cataract lake trail was a simple trail just over a mile long around the entire lake. Chose not to go off that trail which made it very quick and easy. Goes from gravel, to woods, to prairie throughout the hike.

Took a wrong turn and ended up stuck in a neighborhood and had to back track, so longer than anticipated by a few miles, but a good one!

This hike was okay but it took me forever to find the entrance to the part that wasent paved. Other than that, pretty good

Beautiful trail! This is our favorite trail in the park. Stunning views of the lake and fun trail to hike!

Enjoyable hike with lots to see and differing terrain. Lots of off shoot little trails that go to Lake Superior on either side of the trail. We did almost 6 miles due to wandering off the trail and we also continued to the tip of the peninsula to view the lighthouse.

I've only done parts of this. It's very rugged and difficult to follow in parts, but really gets you into the wilderness. You will cross BWCA portages. That's where you'll see people. Not much on the trail. We've tried to unsuccessfully find Rose Falls twice. No trail markings in the BWCA. Just ribbons tied on trees occasionally.

Very nice pavement section and excellent gravel path, beautiful views of St. Louis River Marsh area. Lots of native plants. Great starter trail for those of us who need relatively flat trails

Gets better the farther you go. Mosquitos to be expected but could have been worse! Lots of roots and rocks makes hiking boots recommended.

If you don’t mind bushwhacking through alder brush and fighting bugs, this is a beautiful north woods trail. Several beaver bogs made for some extremely wet boots, but that’s Minnesota!

I can see why this trail is rated as hard. The trail is one of the most rugged I have hiked to date, very rocky and full of roots, but still a great hike! There is no signage anywhere but it is relatively easy to find and follow the trail. There are a few forks in the road which I believe mostly just go in and out to the lakes. I did the loop with my dog with one in and out to the lake for a swim and the total round trip for us was just over 14 miles with lots of beautiful lake views!

I enjoyed this walk. Very peaceful, lots to see, and very quiet. I would go back to this place for peace and quiet!:)

The trail starts with a magnificent waterfall then a wonderful blacktop trail that did not agree with Altrails. Additionally, there were several off-shoot trails if you wanted to go exploring down by the river. And that's is what makes this trail exceptional and a lot of fun. You can push someone in a wheel chair, or you can go off trail for some hard trails down to the river. I took a star off because Altrails wasn't accurate on the main, (blacktop). But rest assured you won't get lost

This is a quiet, peaceful, and wide gravel trail. It is great for running. It is partially shaded with great views!

Low trafficked trail. Overgrown in parts but very green, ferns were hip length and always worth an adventure in the woods. Bug spray is a must! Horseflies were relentless

This trail is beautiful no matter what time of year you hike it. The bugs can get a little heavy but that's Minnesota for ya.

Beautiful tree coverage and enough rocks for kids to feel like it’s a real hike and not just a nature walk. Views of lake are gorgeous.

My fave trail in Duluth. You’ve got killer trees, an abandoned building with dope spray paint art to explore, and if you get bored of the trail, there are multiple off trails that can take you to the beach for those Lake Superior views (without all the people). It’s safe and beautiful during all seasons. Underrated imo.

The trail head is under construction, but easy enough to get through. Was some flooding at the lower end, had to bypass.

Good trail for walking or biking. Easy, flat, straight and paved. Very close to the road but well kept.
