Enjoyed the walk around the lake! Blue sky, fresh snow and about 15 degrees, was a great short walk close to the cities.

Probably was something back in the 1930s. Now, lots of plastic bags in the trees near the river.

Great, easy walk. Surprisingly scenic for the look of it. Borders several backyards and a major road for a short bit. The transitions between light and dark can be challenging at night.

path was clearly marked and maintained, scenic. campsites were clean and nice with nice lake ventures

It’s a nice flat easy and beautiful trail. Brand new trailhead building is going up as well. Trail was dry, but watch for snakes! We saw two

some areas covered with water, good hike

Easy, well groomed out and back that takes you along the bank of Lake Itasca. Good chance you glimpse some wildlife along the way.

Easy paved trail to walk/bike for beginners. There isn't much of a scenery, but they do have weird artwork around the trail. They also have a coffee/food area in the center. This was my weekly go to, when trying to get back into jogging.

Beautiful trail! This is our favorite trail in the park. Stunning views of the lake and fun trail to hike!

I've only done parts of this. It's very rugged and difficult to follow in parts, but really gets you into the wilderness. You will cross BWCA portages. That's where you'll see people. Not much on the trail. We've tried to unsuccessfully find Rose Falls twice. No trail markings in the BWCA. Just ribbons tied on trees occasionally.

Great variety of terrain and trails. There are a few waterfalls hidden.

Love this Trail. If you're looking to work up a sweat, this isn't for you. Pretty level the entire way. However, the views are fantastic if you're looking for a nice place to take a walk. Parts of it almost feel like a Lord of the Rings movie set!

Very nice pavement section and excellent gravel path, beautiful views of St. Louis River Marsh area. Lots of native plants. Great starter trail for those of us who need relatively flat trails

Gets better the farther you go. Mosquitos to be expected but could have been worse! Lots of roots and rocks makes hiking boots recommended.

Really beautiful hike! Portions of the trail are currently underwater though, and I was looking for a really nice and quiet trail, so a bit more traffic on the trails than I was hoping for as well. Otherwise, gorgeous views and not an extremely long trail. Paved or gravel pathways for the most part, but some shortcuts and muddy areas so hiking boots might be nice. Mosquitoes present as well.

I can see why this trail is rated as hard. The trail is one of the most rugged I have hiked to date, very rocky and full of roots, but still a great hike! There is no signage anywhere but it is relatively easy to find and follow the trail. There are a few forks in the road which I believe mostly just go in and out to the lakes. I did the loop with my dog with one in and out to the lake for a swim and the total round trip for us was just over 14 miles with lots of beautiful lake views!

I enjoyed this walk. Very peaceful, lots to see, and very quiet. I would go back to this place for peace and quiet!:)

There should be signs marking where the trail starts for people who aren’t from around the area. Or signs for where the foot bridge is located from main parking area. Drove around for a while and finally left because I couldn’t see where the trail began.... ???

This is a quiet, peaceful, and wide gravel trail. It is great for running. It is partially shaded with great views!
