Pretty rocky at first and sporadically throughout the trail. Muddy, but not terrible.

Arrived at 9:30 AM. The fog was still thick. The trail was muddy from the rain last night. On the way back to the car, the fog had cleared up.

Well maintained, scenic trail. Bike, dog, and kid friendly. Would recommend for friends, family, or solo hikes. Plenty of space and trails for everyone.

A new (as of summer 2019) trail in the Fair Hill NRMA area. Great ups-and-downs, great views, quiet. Mix of gravel road, grassy path, and dirt path. Because of the time of year we hiked it, there was mud but not much. If there was a water crossing I would have given 5 stars. The trail is well maintained, is close to the Yellow Trail and the Big Elk Creek, and there are plenty of historical ruins nearby. The $3/$5 in/out of state fee is incredibly low. Would be nice if there were signs at the Gallaher lot indicating where to find the Purple Trail; we came across the signposts one day and then returned another day to hike the full trail.

Great trail. Hiked on Christmas Day. Rocky and muddy. Sure it’s better in the summer. Great views along the way.

This trail will challenge you, going South the uphill never ends but its totally worth it. One of the most rewarding trails in Maryland with a plethora of Civil War History.

lambs knoll is completely blocked. I tried to walk around perimeter of fence to get a better view and just wasted a lot of time. The view from white rocks was nice. Lots of elevation. well marked easy to follow trail.

Great day hike! A little muddy in spots but has been raining the last few days. Beautiful view from White Rock! Lambs Knoll is now just a cell tower location. Not really worth the short detour.

After a moderate climb up Weverton Cliffs, this was a very easy hike. The trail was well marked, nicely maintained, and wide enough for two, shoulder to shoulder for most of it. Dog friendly, and popular. There were a couple of nice overlooks.

I went with a friend and brought my dog along. although it is currently winter and the forest floor is covered in leaves. It was still a very enjoyable hike my dog had a grand old time admiring the many baby deer we came across. We only got through half the trail but we will definitely be back!

Reasonable grades. Some rocky sections where you need to pay attention to the footing. Old Forge Park is a nice place for a picnic and has a an all-year spigot for water refills.

Nice hike with steady incline to the top. I found the trail in great condition. Lamb Knob is inaccessible because of the antennas on it. Nice little view from White Rocks. Not very crowded, met only half a dozen people on a weekend.

We didn't walk the whole beach, but only a small .5 mile or so. It was super pretty nonetheless and we got lucky seeing a group of horses walk by!

1/2 scramble but all around worth it

Great time hiking here over the weekend with my dog. Well groomed trails for all the fallen leaves. Gentle inclines and descents. Well worth the time.

I enjoyed this trail. The footing is mostly rocks. Knobby rocks. The only section I would categorize as "hard" is the trek back up the loop. It's more climbing than hiking. The trail wasn't crowded, but I saw about 20 people over the 3 hours.
