It’s hard to rate this trail, if you want a nice walk, the trails are wide, mostly flat and clear. There’s a tree that has fallen across one part and pulled a huge curtain of thorny vines down with it, a little rough to get over. The Fresh evidence of hogs was unnerving, but I didn’t see any. The ruins of the town are covered with a lot of foliage even in winter. Gorgeous lake and campgrounds, will definitely be camping soon.

nice trail maintained well. seen deer and beautiful lake views.

I wish I had seen the Abadalla Sherif posting before last Sunday... went down Lamotte Creek Loop... tornado damage was severe.. downed trees made trail impassable.. had to leave trail,,, going cross-country,,, eventually made it back to Azalea Trail.. sent email to Forestry Service... asking them to post notice on trail..

the trail was well maintained with a lot of information available about the different areas. easy trail. beautiful scenery. benches available for resting and bird watching

Pretty good trail. It’s boardwalk/gravel the entire length. Rangers don’t allow you to deviate from the trail. Saw 2 squirrels, 1 friendly Nutria, 1 Bald Eagle from a distance, 1 alligator mom with 3 tiny babies, a few small birds. Quite a few people on the trail...

This is a very fun trail.

One of the most beautiful parks I’ve ever been to. Also love that it’s dog friendly! Super cool place!

Love this trail! It has a couple different options for an inner loop or outer loop, so the layout is cool! The boardwalks and decks were very nice and the trail was well maintained. Also I love their welcome center, it homes a wide variety of creatures, such as birds, mice, turtles and reptiles! They also have a beautifully stuffed blonde beaver in the front of the shop that is magnificent. Highly recommend!

Very nice. On the trail right now at the end enjoying the bench, water, and view. About to head back. Very well maintained especially the boardwalk. I know how hard it is to keep up with wooded platforms in this area. Only one small complaint, but not a big deal...the gravel has many big pieces that caused me to twist my ankle a few times when I was jogging, so you really have to look down the entire time. Pea gravel would be better than limestone, but I’ve twisted my ankle and even fell on dirt trails tripping over tree trunks. But I am a klutz, so can’t blame the trail.

I haven’t tried this trail yet because I can’t bring my dog and I always hike with my dog, but I really do want to check it out some day. Giving it 1 star because says no dogs. WHY NOT? Kids, and really any human, can do way more damage than a dog.

Winter update: January has been quite rainy and the trail reflects that. Quite a few places that you'll have to use wood planks (so kindly placed by either park staff or others) to cross water (stagnant and moving). Slick mud patches and came back with wet socks, but still a very wide easy trail with great scenery and wildlife viewing. Saw a bald eagle and flying pelicans.

This is a really good trail! Most of it is a boardwalk until you get to the picnic area in which there is a small trail off the boardwalk. Still really nice and easy walk with my dog. Lots of lizards and potentially salamander (can’t tell).

well maintained..great for our dogs!!!

Great concrete trail. Just about 3 miles out and back. Shaded and some sunny spots. A few benches to sit and watch wildlife. Great for dogs, must keep on leash though

You should follow the rules and walk towards the bikers. Safer and more pleasant this way

Lovely urban park with paved loop and an outer unpaved loop. Great people watching and is on both bus and trolley routes. You can link to the levee trail, too

Enjoyed a great New Years Day Hike yesterday. It had recently rained so there was a little standing water in some places. $4 for the guided hike.

My husband and I took our 4 year old and two year old on 12/31/19. It was beautiful and the 4 year old was able to do the 1.5 mile loop without any help. Didn’t pass any other hikers while we were there. We brought water boots to let the kids splash around the little waterfall/rocky creek area. We also packed a picnic and sat on the rocks by the waterfall for lunch. Highly recommend.

this trail is closed because of tornado damage

pretty cool little hike just recovering from injury so i was slow trail and buttes were great

One of our favorite trails. I hiked this with my husband & 3 kids today. There was definitely some over growth and fallen trees but this made the trail more interesting. A couple of spots where the trail gets very narrow (width of 2 feet only) with deep ravines on either sides, makes for some exciting spots to navigate. Lots of steep ups & downs. The red blazes were easy to follow except at around the halfway point, along one of the river beds, but we got back on track easily. Saw lots of wildlife tracks & birds. It took us about 2.5 hours with stops for water only.

a lil wet but very quiet and relaxing hike
