Snow level is somewhere in between snowshoes and boots. Closer to the mine it was mid calf and a little more difficult to move through.

Good place for a walk if you're not looking to do a heavy hike but you want to get outside! Kid friendly, stroller friendly, dog friendly, bike-friendly, and there isn't heavy traffic at least end of January. Great place for photos, there are several spots you can get down by the water too. You can either stay on the paved trail for strollers and bikes or go off into some dirt trails!

Beautiful hot springs. 7-8 pools with different temps and waterfalls in between.

Trail was in good condition. Not muddy, a little soft and sandy, but not bad at all.

Absolutely BEAUTIFUL trail. I backpacked this with my family and it was well worth my time. We fished the whole time and caught upward of 40 fish a day. All on flies. We caught them on the river and the lake. I wouldn’t recommend it for little kids. We struggled with some tough teenagers but got there in the end. I will definitely be going back!

Trouble with ice in lots of places. Beautiful city views. One water crossing. Easy elevation. Moderately trafficked.

AMAZING. One of my favorite hikes EVER. Everybody should do this hike at least once before they die.

Not a good place to park right at the trail head. We parked just around the next turn at the pull out, then hiked up and over the hill to catch the trail. GREAT powder for snowshoeing First part of the hike recently walked, so nice and easy. At the Y, we forged through about 1/3 of the upper part of the loop, then got tired and cruised through the trees straight down the hill to meet the bottom part of the trail. Headed ‘backwards’ on it to get to Ponderosa Outlook and sit for a few minutes. About 2.5-3 hrs outside, including dinking around with photos and a snack break.

Hiked up to the springs this morning. The last part of the trail is steep with some icy and snowy spots, so be careful and consider using crampons. The hot springs are spectacular, and the views are wonderful during the entire hike.

great time, but I don't recommend in snowy weather. turned back when we lost site of trail. I know we are surrounded by civilization but it no need to get caught in heavy snow that's coming in a an hour or so.

Pretty average for north of Boise hiking, it was icy and windy the evening I went which actually improved upon the experience, really. Few steep climbs were a decent workout. Signage is lacking in a few places for trail splits. Anyway, if you don't like dogs (or if your dog doesn't like other dogs) I'd skip this one, leashes aren't required and I was accosted by 4 random dogs. Two of which completely surprised me with their owners nowhere in sight. One of those was on a hillside with the width of the trail being maybe a foot and a half wide and a nice fall down the hill if I'd stumbled. So if your dog likes to run up to people consider leashing it on the hillsides and if you tend to fall over when surprised don't bother going on this hike.
