Decent out and back hike up mountain. Some cool huge boulders on way up and great rocky outcrops. Good amount of ice near summit that could prove treacherous. Plenty of camping sites throughout. Large bald at very top with areas for fires or camping, kinda lost trail toward very top. Had multiple helicopters buzzing us up there at fairly close distance which was odd. Only a few folks on an overcast Thursday afternoon. Dog did well. Not an incredibly tough hike but it has its moments.

solid day hike, parking across the street from the trail head is good. if you walk it counter clockwise it starts solid, a few down trees but nothing unmanageable. about half way you you come to a fire road that will lead you back to the head if want to shorten it up, but if you push through you have to tread a washout area that isn't very well marked and the path is unclear. past that there is a rock face you can climb up easily and have lunch, it has a boulder on top that looks like a cartoon head, and you can put your head in its mouth for a photo opp. The trail is pretty defined for a minute until you have to go through a short bamboo growth, then you hit another fire road to hike back out. It's an experimental Forest, so they do regular burns along the fire roads, but I've never been smoked off the trail.

Beautiful. Flat. Lovely. Hiked at night under a bevy of stars!

Extremely easy hike. Lots of mini bridges and mini planks you walk over so you don’t slip on the muddy areas. We hiked at 2pm on a Sunday and were done at 4ish. You are nestled in the trees the whole time so if you do this in the summer you should stay quite cool. Lots of shade.

Depends on what you are looking for that Day It could be an easy hike it can be a moderate hike depends what you want for the day

Bring a backpack with water and snacks, & lights if you’re starting in the afternoon! This is an all day adventure. Had to hightail it back because we forgot flashlights, so we were trying to beat the winter sunset (we started at 11am and took too long at the summit- both mistakes on our part) finding parking depends on where you start your route, there are plenty of access points with free parking especially if you incorporate any of the other trails in on this one, but I recommend following this trail strictly to stay on time. Great views at the top, getting there is the most difficult part!! The rest of the trail is smooth sailing. I recommend going to the summit first, unless you enjoy torturing yourself like I do. We looped around then climbed and I hated myself for it.

I ran this trail at dusk. The last half of the trail could be marked better. additionally, the trail is pretty rocky in some parts and can make for a rolled ankle if you aren't careful. It was a really beautiful trail. I ran up on a heard of about 5 deer. on the back half of the trail there are nice views of the lake and town below. This one has quite a bit of elevation gain and made for tough trekking for the first half.

Followed advice from previous reviews. Winter is the time to hike this. Used trail guide to follow blue markers. Beautiful trail.

Smith Creek Trail to Anna Ruby Falls is an absolutely incredible hike, especially if you’ve never see the Falls before (I had not). But my hike began inauspiciously. Yesterday when I got to the park I realized I forgot my wallet. State Park Season Passes are not accepted if you are hiking Smith Creek Trail. Not sure why. You have to buy a $5 pass from a kiosk. So I turned around and went home, feeling like dog-do. Happy at least that I had enough gas to make it home! But today I was good to go! The trail is in awesome shape. Very few rocks or roots to hang you up. There are however a number of blowdowns and lots of creek crossings. Still, you can get into a rhythm on this trail and put it on cruise control. The first creek crossing has a nice foot bridge (.65 miles in) so does the second and third (.7 and .85 miles in). The trail is slopes up gently to the 1.35 mile point then it pushes back some and gets steep. Four switch backs later you are at 1.5 miles and it again becomes a more gradual ascent. The high elevation point of the trail is at 2.65 miles and then it’s all downhill to Anna Ruby. The good part is the falls are higher than the trailhead so the hike back isn’t nearly as hard as it is going to the Falls. Not gonna lie, it’s a hard hike than many trails, primarily the distance makes it so. But, I do highly recommend it for the hikers who know they can do a 9 miler in the mountains. The Falls are just magnificent and make it all worthwhile.

Second time this week on the trail (because the first time did not record and I want my badges). Decent trail moderately travelled, super easy and fun to do with a dog especially with all the Whitetail deer running in the woods.

Not a bad stroll for a brisk January afternoon. Lots of deer. Very few mud patches, but where they were, they were bad. Not rigorous and very customizable. Bring the app to see what your options are for cutting or adding. Also, the app shows crossings on the route without trails. The trails are there, no worries.

one of my Favorite Falls in Georgia. simple walk along the river, with some great photo opportunities. very nice picnic area below the falls along the river, and shallow enough to let the kids play in on warm summer days.

a real easy trail to a nice small scenic spot but here at woody gap the big cedar trail is right across the street. so you can make both trails into a loop. since big cedar is the nicer trail with some great scenic spot do this trail first. this really makes for a awesome hike even when i did it on a cool crisp morning in January.

Great trail with lots of stops for dogs to take a dip - or yourself depending upon the season. Not sure why so many say the trail is not marked well. Blue blazes lead into the loop and the loop itself has white blazes. Plus the trail is used often and maintained.

1/19 - 1/20 - 9 year old daughter’s first backpacking trip. She had an awesome time. Trail is easy to moderate and made it a pleasant experience for her. Camped at “hippy beach”. Only 2 down trees on the trail that she had to climb over.

It’s a great trail. The falls area was a little muddy and like others mentioned heavily trafficked. Someone else mentioned this, but I definitely recommend going clockwise that makes the last section the most scenic.

Awesome fun trail for the entire family. A little challenge but very do-able.

quite a workout . We hiked today 30 degrees when we started Great views at the summit. Going to try the 7 mile trail in the spring.

A most excellent workout this COLD afternoon! Moderate for sure, but gets much easier after Mile 1. Saw deer. Highly recommended!

I use this trail system for my exercise, can't run anymore so hiking it is. and I can take my grandchildren with me and make a day of it; really enjoy the newly added trails, especially the one going over to Indian Springs state park.

Took my 2 kids for a winter hike. Pretty easy trail alongside a creek for the most part. Nothing spectacular but a nice little outing regardless.
