I travel frequently and love to hike unfamiliar terrain and I also like a little challenge. I rely on the reviews of trails pretty heavily and this one sounded right up my alley based on the reviews in this app. I often hike alone, I’m very aware and I carry a hunting knife for protection. I’ve never had any problems and I’ve hiked almost every state in the US. If you’re a woman hiking alone, do not do this hike. There were some very questionable people doing questionable things in the woods. I’m not easily frightened and pretty much take people as they are, but this trail and these people gave me the creeps. I ended up abandoning the hike (which I have NEVER done) and went back to my car. Later I spoke to some locals who told me never to go there alone. I’m writing this review to warn others and wish some locals had also written a warning in their review. On a lighter note, the flats are really cool and I wish I could have explored them....super buggy and muddy though, wear boots and repellent.

My favorite day hike. easy walk and well maintained

The woods portion of the trail was nice, but had a lot of mosquitos, even with using spray. It was completely worth it for the beach portion though.

The trail was smooth. Muddy in some areas. don't forget the bug spray.

Dirt road 7 miles each way, mostly smooth with some bumpy areas. Pretty, but mostly the same views. Filtered sun and full sun. Ends at a very pretty pond. We took the main park road back to Long Pine Key campground.

Having hiked a great many trails around the Jacksonville area, this is the preeminent trail for a hiker. It has it all! While linear, can be hiked in sections of your choice/length/difficulty. Great scenery, overlooks, bridge, walkways, staircase, good changes in elevation,, and along a waterway with small falls. Section 1 (Indian Ford to Knights Landing) is about 2.4 miles. Knights to Ellis is 2.5 miles, Ellis to Dunn's Farm 4-way intersection is 3.4 miles, and another .9 mi to the Dunn's trailhead parking lot. Section 1 is relatively easy, while 2 & 3 are much more challenging with plenty of ups and downs, many with steepness And this is true hiking trail, no horses, bikes or motorized vehicles; in a huge State Forest, far away from traffic and noise. But recognize this area is primitive, no facilities except at the Forrest Ranger Station (end of Dunn's) during weekday operating hours, roads well marked and packed but unpaved (except to Dunn's trailhead) , and no fountains. Great benches all along the way and campsites with tables. And did I mention a local historic cemetery.

Very nice park and personnel at this State Park. Nice trails to hike.

White blaze trail has few spots in water/mud. Other than that, mostly wide open easy hiking.

beautiful but well traveled hike. the park map is a hot mess, all of the trail markers use names like "mill loop", um okay the map says there's a white trail? WTF? Very confusing. So ended up doing about 4 miles because of rerouting and ended up on the mill loop which is blazed white. LARGE area of toilet paper down by the river. ew.

Awesome trail for biking and walking, however half of the time you are walking right next to the City street. We loved the trail from Lake Monroe to Gemini Springs after that it was ok. We stopped and took our time walking the spring. Lovely! We saw a rooster, fish and lots of orange trees.

I did not follow this map and instead did most of the trail on the Florida Trail.

I love this trail. Today though it was VERY muddy in the back area. Lots of stagnant water on the trail.

If you want to enjoy the park go directly to the observatory located inside the park. This park is more bike oriented. not much for walking.

Pretty awesome trail. It was hard to find the entrance though. I drove back to the Fort Drum Conservatory Area but the gate for cars was locked. Ended up going through the man gate on the side and walked about .5 - 1 mile before reaching any of the trails. The trails were pretty awesome, especially the bridge to walk on. The one trail I went on was flooded after awhile so I had to turn around. Didn't see much wildlife other than birds and a few small lizards. Would definitely recommend though!

Quiet, peaceful trail. The parts along the creek were great.

Lucky me no bugs!!! I agree with the other reviews I wish they would mark the trails better but good thing I had this app! but other than that it was a beautiful Chris day and no one on the trail nicely groomed did not get to see much of Bird activity probably because of the wind in the cold but quick 30-minute Trail

Moving slowly and stopping to cook lunch, it took me 5 hours from start to finish. Camped just south of Alexander Springs on often-used campground. On the way back, moving quickly I managed to do the same distance in 3.5 hours. Saw a few white tail deer, and the trail was well marked.
