Dirt road 7 miles each way, mostly smooth with some bumpy areas. Pretty, but mostly the same views. Filtered sun and full sun. Ends at a very pretty pond. We took the main park road back to Long Pine Key campground.

Awesome trail that goes through an endangered forest in the Everglades. We entered and connected with the long pine key trail from the lake / picnic area and cut through a thick forest at the south end of the lake. On our way back we spooked a large cotton mouth snake (water moccasin). Thankfully none of us got bit. Awesome experience though.

My wife almost stepped on a snake. Watch out!

Took Ranch House Rd. to Bee Island trail, north to Bee Island campsite? Not sure. This is a Myakka route I probably won’t do again, just for the reason that 90% of it is prairie. Although panoramic, it doesn’t allow for as many wildlife encounters as do the hammocks or canopies. Also, the trail becomes quite narrow, and with all the pig ruts — significant amount — you have to keep your eyes on your feet to avoid turning an ankle or encountering snakes. Wasn’t even that hot when I did it, but I can only imagine the heat during summer months in the open prairie. I love Myakka and will keep coming — I’ll just look for the more varied trails. When I got to a stand of pines, I flushed a huge hawk, which was cool.

Beautiful trail and very quiet. We were the only one's hiking. We did not go in very far as it was getting late and we did in fact hear a bear grunt in the distance!

Very nice trail ! It’s very hot so bring a lot of water but the path is great, very relaxing. The trail ends to a lake. The thing is that you have to go back the same way you came or you can choose to walk on the road but it’s longer and there is absolutely no shade. I recommend though !

We have trail rode out from Long Pine (trail head by lake) and taken the forest trails. Solid 10+mile ride and very enjoyable. Wildlife was minimal for the glades but very nice either way. Also the original abandoned ingraham hwy trail head is close to the road that takes you to the nike missle area.....this is the original way to Flamingo. But pack supplies bc no one ever goes that route...unless you venture like I like to ride.

Solid end of the day trail. Nice and flat, but not as many views as you'll find elsewhere in the park

flat and a little winding. rough on a bike, trail has concrete patches and is basically a car 2 track.

I have ridden my bike in the dry season and completed the trail twice. tried to ride my bike in the wet season, didn’t work way too much water after Irma. Love it out there, hope to catch a cloudy day that sun is brutal.

Love the trail and we take it when we camp at the Long Pine Key campground. Hiking here provides an environment with less mosquitos than hiking south around flamingo

Did two separate sections of this trail over the weekend. The weather was around 70 degrees which decreased the amount of mosquitoes. There are a few unmaintained roads that have some fallen trees since the hurricane. Be aware of your surroundings as we had encounters with one rattlesnake and a cottonmouth on the side of the main trail.

Dry in the winter with mild mosquitos. Flat, easy hike to Pine Glades Lake. I saw nobody else on the trail.

It wasn't too bad. You have to drive pretty far in and past the campgrounds you will see a few barricades and those are your trails. Very lush and tons of greens. Saw a few snakes and deer. Many birds.

This is a great flat bike trail in the Everglades through a pine forest. There are also several unmaintained roads that allow lots of variations. I did this on a winter weekend and saw no one. Many fast sections but a few solution holes.

Boy Scout Troop 599 hikes this trail and other connecting trails to stretch out a 20 miler from the the Scout Camp Everglades thru the pineland trail then the trail thru the marshland on the north side of the main road. Then back along the main road to the entrance of the Long Key campground back to the scout camp. Trail map available at entrance to Park. Carried 30 lbs.Packs in preparation for the Barefoot Mailman hike.

I drove form Kissimmee to Miami using the back roads and pass next to the lake. It is huge and it seems like open water. I bet all water sport and fishing must be nice in this stretch of water

Clewiston is a quaint little Florida town. Good fishing at the lake when water tables are high.
