Decent trail, wide access road. A lot of soft and sandy spots.

This made for a great hike on a 70 degree day in January. A little mud from rain but overall great balance of shade and openness. We stayed along the orange blazes which according to the trail map in the park is only 3.5 miles. We did it twice to hit the mileage we wanted. Shared the trail with bikers, hikers, & dogs!

I went to Blackbird State Forest to see one of the three forests in DE. While the office was closed (UGH), I explored a bit and easily found the trailhead and saw great signs for an XC5K. Beautiful run! P.S. The trails are very well marked. I followed the XC5K signs which go on the blue and yellow trails. Oh and there was a PortaPotty at the trailhead.

Great for gravel bikes! Trail is a mix of dirt/grass/gravel/mud. Mostly flat, few up hills.

Flat wide trail. Very easy. If you do the whole loop allow about 1-1.5 hours with stops. Good for families or nice walk. no inclines. Great for biking but of course no training wheels. several opening to view bay. mainly covered by pines and other vegetation.

Fun little loop with unusual varieties of cacti. Signs tell many of the names.

It’s cold out so no bugs but I can imagine it would be horrible in the winter. I also don’t love that there’s hunting here.

Test of Airplane mode and walking

Good easy trail, I usually go with my kids. It’s a very nice and trail to getting into biking and getting a good work out. You can enter form few places .

Great first of many trips to Lums Pond. Did the Little Jersey and a small portion of Swamp Forest. This trail system is well worth the 50min. drive from Baltimore Co.

Beautiful if you want no distractions and not much to look at. Very sandy trails for bike riding. Would probably be a better trail for walking, more experienced bike riders, or horses. Kids had a hard time navigating through the soft sand and around the horse divots and manure.

Magnificent this time of year, fell down on some loose earth and rock. Fractured my fibula and crawled last half mile back to my car.

I had to pay to park there to use the trail. It was $10 for out of state plates. Will never go there again. I can walk around my neighborhood for free.

As you can see I started off on the trail & went back. So I didn’t technically complete this one. My friends pup had other plans in mind.

very interesting in fast-moving trail with water views and prickly pear cactus good workout.

Very good for walking or inexperienced bikers

This is how I praise God in his church, the earth, not in a building.

“That’s not mud, that’s horse poo”, she said.

Thrill seekers need not apply. This is such a good ride. It’s not difficult at all and anyone can do this trail. At the start of the trail, there’s crushed stone on the trail and it’s super smooth. At some point you reach a set of corn fields, this is the most annoying part of the trail because stalks of corn litter the trail and it makes for a bumpy ride. However, it’s short so it’s not that bad. Most of the trail is actually in shade but you can’t tell that from the beginning. My wife and I did this trail in 45 minutes, which is a new record for us as we typically do the up & down type trails. Coincidentally, it’s the longest trail we’ve done at 7.8 miles. But because it’s such a smooth trail, our average speed is double. Give this one a try on a day you want a smooth ride, you won’t regret it. It’s kid friendly as well.

Decent easy trail throughout. The trail is sandy wide road that traverses the woods. Great for a leisurely walk through the woods with your dog. Decent scenery but nothing spectacular. If you’re looking for a more exciting adventure then this wouldn’t be the trail for you. The trail did get a bit boring in parts. Also none of the trails had any type of markers and there was a few cut offs that again had no identification. I followed the trail map on here mostly but there are a few throughout that are not marked on here. Overall a decent hike but would’ve liked more traditional trails deep in the woods. This is also an active horseback riding trail so watch out for the occasional droppings.
