3/4 of the trail is unpaved (which I prefer), and 1/4 is paved. Relatively easy hiking around the reservoir. The unpaved portion of the trail was pretty muddy given the warm January day and rain the previous night. Beautiful views of the reservoir and Hartford skyline. Good for kids and dogs

the trail is paved and kept nice. good parking areas too. however there was A LOT of dog poop on the sides. clearly users are not cleaning after their dogs. probably wont comeback for that reason since a have small kids and a dog that i rather keep away from poop piles

Went 1/11/20 and will go back! Mix of sun and shade areas of well traveled easy trail. Off season the regular bathrooms are closed. There are 2 brown port-a-potties near the nature center and parking area however.

Fun for bikes and great for dogs.

What an awesome trail this was to find yesterday. The weather was amazing for a January day. We followed the main road through the park to the beach and then followed the trail for covered bridges. This led us up through the rocks and amazing scenery. We found the covered bridge and then the Water wheel. We then veered off again through the woods to the old pond trail. Wow what a find this was, little bit more challenging as you go round the base of a rock face then come up the side and then venture along the top. Finished off along the boardwalk through the swamp. My husband and I thoroughly enjoyed this hike and will definitely be going back to do again.

Great easy trail. This trail is closed from mid November to April.

This review is for the section of trail from Lebanon to North Windham. This trail is the perfect trail for winter hiking. At times, the trail glistened like it was paved with diamonds. Krampons were needed to help keep us on our feet on these icy trails. The trail led into Willimantic and dumped us onto Main Street. It was a great place to grab a quick lunch before heading finding the trail again. The lack of signs made the going rough, but thanks to Alltrails GPS, we were able to pick our way through the streets and find where the trail resumed. The ever changing scenery made this stretch of the trail interesting.

Great riding even in the winter even got to do some icy trail maintenance so awesome good dogs unfortunately no padding would ride trail again.

This was not really a trail for hiking. SO many people, jogging, strollers, walking, etc. it was like walking in Central Park. No thank you. We turned back within .25 miles.

Although I am not much of a flatlander hiker, I found this trail appealing on this chilly icy day. The relative flatness of the trail made hiking safer in slippery conditions We were able to get some trail mileage in despite the cold December weather. The trail does look pretty much the same most of the way, but that was expected.

Easy convenient trails especially if you need something quick

Great views from the top of the ridge, stretching from Sleeping Giant in the north to downtown New Haven and Long Island Sound in the south. This park has so many trails, it is easy to customize your hike to your fitness level and schedule. You won't really get that feeling of solitude that many hikers seek, but it is amazing that this system of trails is free and so close to the city.
