Easy and lovely little hike.

1-17-2020. Trail was packed down very well. It’s about a two foot wide trail, so when people are coming and you step off expect to go knee deep in snow! Hiked it crampons from tenmile trail head all the way to the eagles nest wilderness sign - start of the white river national forest. Saw people with snowshoes but I personally didn’t find it necessary beautiful quiet trail.

Nice trail for snowshoeing, winter hiking w crampons. We winter clockwise from parking lot and we’re in the trees for most of the way Nice loop to do. Also great for cross country skiing

On 1/16/20 did a variation by going up to the overlook for Dream Lake vs. directly to the lake. Went on the Flattop Mt. Trail from Bear Lake. About 2 miles up and 1200' elevation gain. All the way through trees until the overlook from a ledge The sign for the overlook was not buried in snow. Great views of Dream Lake, Mills Lake and mountains. Weather sunny, warmer with breeze. Snowshoes worked best although spikes OK. Great outing. Took about 3.5 hours with frequent stops and lunch.

fun, short little trail. very snowpacked the entire way so traction is recommended, especially on the way down. nice rock outcropping at the top to sit and enjoy the view

Went 4 days ago. Trail is extremely icy and snow covered. Saw a few people really struggle to avoid slipping over without traction. Some patches are ice free but others not and some sections narrow. Didn’t make it to the top of the peak as gets very steep and no protection from the wind for last mile.

Attempted on 1/16 /20 via Fern Lake trail. 1 mile or so past the Flat Top split, snow shoes were necessary. 1/2mi or so after that, the tracks we were following turned around. We had trouble finding the route, even with Alltrails app and GPS, but had lots of fun trying. Ended up on an outcrop that awarded fantastic, panoramic views of all the peaks, with Fern and Odessa far below. We were tired from breaking trail, and also thought our accidental views were some of the best we'd ever seen. Not to mention Fern and Odessa looked SO FAR down. So we decided to turn around here. Expect a navigational adventure if you attempt any time soon!

GOOSE POOP EVERYWHERE!

Great dog friendly trail- but beware nomad trail is currently closed. Bring good shoes, it’s muddy and icy

Very muddy and icy in patches. The city asks that hikers walk through mud in order to keep the trail from widening.

Awesome views. Packed down trail, little ice in spots so would suggest yak traks. To find it, look for the green post after squaw trails.

First quarter of the hike is a steep incline with ice. Coming down would recommend cleats. Had to turn around last leg of the trail due to weather moving in.
