Took spikes and poles and had no issues until I tried to walk behind some of the super packed down areas. Postholed up to my hips up near the cabins. Beautiful hike. I’d always wanted to see this one in winter and it did not disappoint.

It was pretty.. very nice rock.. only downfall was the amount of people.

a beautiful day for this hike - 35° and sunny! 1 hr 30 min up and 45 min down. I was grateful for my microspikes but could’ve probably done without

Hikes this 1/11. Almost no snow / ice. The incline is at the beginning and then it’s basically flat the rest of the time. Would like to come back and run it. Nice little hike close by! Nothing super special but good for a workout or to take the dog out

Good quick hike with elevation gain and some (little) scramble over rocks. Busy though!

Dogs on leash on NCAR Trail. Then Mallory Trail is voice and sight. Minimal ice in small sections of the trail. Did not need crampons or poles. Great day and trail conditions. Really cool little hike

A lot of bikers who do not know bicycle etiquette on this trail. We met someone whose dog got hit by a bike. Makes hiking a little less enjoyable when you’re afraid to get hit even though it has great views. Trail was mostly dry except a few spots.

Easy hike, fairly crowded on a holiday weekend. Great views of Hallett peak.

We snowshoed on Sunday Jan 19. Blue bird day with no wind! The trail was packed down and spikes would have been fine. If you chose to snowshoe off the trail then the snow gets deep and snowshoes are a must. Trail is enjoyed by skiers, hikers and dogs.

Beautiful and easy hike up to the lake. Helpful hint: bring the exact amount for parking $5. Yaktrax were helpful, especially on the way back down. Trail is pretty well packed down so no need for snowshoes.

A beautiful hike! A little icy is some shaded spots but I did not use spikes.

Great trail for a moderate workout. Some very minor icy patches hidden under dirt in shady spots along the trail, so watch closely - but as of 1/19 there was no need for spikes. It was easy to walk on the side of the trail to avoid the ice. 100 ft. scramble at the end was fine without gear, but would be pretty dangerous if there was any ice or snow.

This was a great trail. No treacherous spots. It gets off the paved area pretty quickly onto a well kept dirt trail. Nice to get away from the busy paved section and get off on our own. Got to see a good amount of the park. I would only bring kiddos if they’re ready for a workout Saw a bunch of dogs and some joggers.

A bit tough if you are recently arrived from sea level. Trail was snow covered but packed. Micro spikes highly recommended. View from the summit absolutely stunning

Path not well defined. Stick to the flat irons to get up and down. Probably better not in winter months.

The lake is beautiful. There were people sledding and ice fishing. Make sure you come prepared if you are hiking in the winter. The beginning is icy and I watched more than one person fall.

My first trail since left hip replacement 4 months ago! Well marked. Some icy spots where limited sun exposure. Used one hiking pole for safety. To get to Mallory cave you must do rock climbing which is likely class three which I did not do.
