This trail should be rated hard as it is a steep incline and plenty of rock climbing involved. Think crawling up on all fours and scooting back down on your butt. lol! It is challenging to stay on the correct trail if you are unfamiliar with this route. Google maps also helps you to see if you’re going the right way. At least cell reception is good. The plus is this is a full body workout with amazing rock formations and incredible views. Occasional class 2 rock climbing and is hard on the knees coming down. Bring 2-3 liters of water and go early or pick a cool winter day that is clear.

This is a fantastic hike the views at the top are beautiful! There is a $10 parking fee but well worth it. The elevation gain is pretty easy. A bit steep at the beginning but then pretty flat the rest of the trail. A bit windy at the top.

Even though the Woolsey Fire swept through this area, there are signs of life everywhere! Green plants abound! Still so gorgeous, especially on a partly cloudy and cool day. The rock features are stunning. The seasonal creeks abound. For a great portion of the Mishe Mokwa Trail, the seasonal creek runs along to the right, if hiking clockwise. Came across the following birds: dark eyed juncos, lesser finches, scrub jays, ravens, northern harriers, turkey vultures, bushtits, and canyon wren. Nice and peaceful, enjoyed the trail, until I got to Sandstone Peak (obnoxiously loud). Still, worth it. Oh, I also picked up quite a bit of dog poop in bags, and I don’t own a dog! There are some irresponsible pet owners on this trail. BEWARE!

Awesome place to hike or run! In my opinion JT is underrated, and pictures don't do this place justice. This cloudy January morning I ran in 62 F. For this trail I used about 45 minutes to the Oasis taking my time with pictures. Light traffic, had longer portions all by myself. After an hour break enjoying the views at the oasis I turned back and used 30 minutes back. Well maintained trails, the views are just getting better and better as you go.

One of the toughest and best scenic hikes ever!

Easy to moderate trek at best. Great views at the top. If you like simple bouldering or Climbing for fun( Not pro), Castle Rock and Goat rock. Castle Rock falls at this time of the year didn't have much water - Looked like a small Creek. Could get foggy in the second half.

Awesome trail! I would recommend for any beginner getting into 4x4. Its a very well maintained and flat road (although pretty narrow) Gorgeous views and fun drive!

Great time of year to come. Even had a light rain and it was still fine. Moderate more than hard. Went counter clockwise. Multiple Condor sightings!

Really enjoyed the hike. We went at my 8 yr old daughters pace. With break and a lunch break, it took us 2 hr 30 min round trip. Will do it again.

Great hike with great views! My 9 year old did a great job making it up to the top. Some muddy areas on the trails. I’m glad I had my hiking poles.

the weather was good. the caves had some water but we were able to go through the caves with out getting wet. the hike was fairly easy . I definitely come back and do this one again

After spending most of my time in the Mojave section of Joshua Tree, this trail exemplified just why JT is the coolest place on earth! From the road, the Colorado looks flat and less diverse in the winter time than the Mojave section of the park with a ton of Joshua Trees and Jumbo rock formations but this trail proved to be the opposite of that! There is so much diversity in terms of landscape! So many different plants, animals and terrains to see! The options on this trail are endless and it is a must do! It’s well marked, well maintained and not too bad if you’re prepared! A hat and sunscreen is a must as well as water (I went through 3 liters on this hike and it was 65°F out. The oasis is a perfect spot under the fan palms to enjoy your lunch before going back again to see things you may have missed before! Highly recommend
