Hiked this trail with my dog in January. Beautiful views. I’m an avid hiker, but this hike kicked my butt! Made it to the summit in 3hrs, with one short break. 2.25hrs to get back to the car. Didn’t encounter anyone else on the trail. Little overgrown in some areas. Lots of steep altitude gain.. but well worth it. I didn’t see any ticks.. but the dog managed to pick up at least 15 of them. Highly recommend this trail to anyone up for the challenge.

If you love trains you must hike this

Very cool, easy enough for advance beginners, make sure you look to your right to find the way up to the trail, first time I went I missed ended up to a dead end.

If you do the loop, make sure your shoes have good traction. I felt twice, watch out!

Good gains, easier if you go left!

Very nice trail, slippery and muddy in some parts and would have been a five star for me. Took longer to complete due to picture taking. Started hiking just after noon and completed after 2pm and when I got back to the parking lot, a police car was next to my car with rear passenger window smashed and backpack with laptop gone. Backpack was well covered with black coat in a black interior car and tinted windows. I made sure to change in a different lot so that no one sees what I have inside and parked 3 spots from the gate with cctv on top. My first time here and was looking forward to coming back but with the break in...maybe not.

Great easy hike for young kids! I took my 3 today (5 years, 3 years, and 8 months of age) and they all loved it.

I am an experienced ultra runner and I was pretty worried about running this as it seemed many said the trail was hard to follow. We started out clockwise and it was very pleasant running through the canyon on the Jeep Road. Eventually we came to an area where the road ended and there was some awesome single track. We found it pretty easy to follow the trail until we started to make the right turn around the mountain. Just keep your eye on the single track as it goes up the ridge on the right and then back down and crosses over the creek to some technical single track with light scrambling. There is also a right turn going up after you leave the canyon that we almost missed. We were so impressed with the views but found the slog of continued climbing pretty tough. We lost the single track for a while but I used this app to find our way. Once we reached the high point we were pretty ecstatic as the next section was fun downhill single track...it was also easy to lose to we had to keep checking the map here to make sure we were on the right path. Once we hit the next canyon it was super fun and easy going. There is one place where it seemed we have to make a crazy down climb but we found single track on our left and went around it. Such a super fun and beautiful route. We competed the whole loop in 8 hours. I had a banana, some dates, a Spring Energy gel, and a vegan burrito and a 2.5 liter water bladder. Can’t wait to do it again!

I actually really enjoyed this trail! I had intended on something different, but ended up following this one up through Eagle Pass. Probably not for faint of heart as you get pretty close to some slippery cliff edges. I wore tennis shoes, but would opt for hiking boots next time because of some of the slippery bits due to gravel. There were some moderate inclines at some parts, so it was a pretty good workout.
