on Walcott Lake Trail

Short. Have to backtrack to exit so you complete twice. Basically walking the levee around the lake. Peaceful. Views across farmland are nice. Saw some beautiful blue birds.

Great trail. Really steep & rocky, but worth it for the views. The second part of the trail, across hwy 187 goes along some beautiful bluff over looks.

I would recommend this trail to anybody wanting to see pretty views of the lake. I advise you wear boots if it has been raining it can be rocky and quite wet.

This is a city trail along the river. I am a local and have been on just about ever part. This is a nice walk if you are in the area but I wouldn't travel far to see it. The section beginning at River Front Park is the only major section where the river is visible. The walk down to a pavilion where the path turns into the woods is a little over a mile. I like to walk back and forth until I'm ready to go. The area suffered historic flooding last May and I don't think the lights along the path have been fixed. This area is right in downtown so I wouldn't recommend walking it at night anyway. Homeless people camp along the river. It is save during the day but again I wouldn't recommend it at night. There are bicycles for rent at River Front Park.

This is clearly private property. Signs and boundary markers everywhere.

Fun hike! Steep rocky trail, hard to see the trail under the leaves but well marked. Takes you to a nice overlook and skirting the bottom of beautiful rock wall.

Very nice place to spend some time hiking with a loved one. Pretty easy hike, but there are steps towards the top that may be difficult for some. Breath taking views from the top. You also have a good chance of seeing some of the many eagles that enjoy it there too. We got a ferry from the Fairfield Bay Marina (very nice people there) to take us to the island/mountain.

Its a nice 9 mile float. The fishing is great and we frequently see bald eagles!!

Well maintained clearly marked trail. However what was supposed to be an out & back trail turned into a loop. May have missed my marks but I absolutely would not know where. The loop brought back near the lake so I was good with it

There wasn’t any feature or spectacular view to make this trail pay off for me. The quarry was kind of cool, but not my jam.

This is a canoe / kayak put in and take out

A little more difficult than expected. Beautiful trail. Not well marked the last half mile but doable. Excellent

The first part of the trail had great views and was easy to follow. Once you cross the highway, the trail disappears and you need to use your phone or a GPS to find your way.

This trail crosses the highway after a short walk through the woods from the visitor center, toward the lake. It is not well marked and not at all clear from the map that you need to walk down the paved road a bit to find the trail again - we crossed straight over and quickly lost any kind of trail to follow, finding ourselves in a swampy, unmaintained area. Disappointing.

Husband and I did this trail. Once you cross the highway for the second part of the trail, it becomes so overgrown that the trail disappears. We were only able to get back because of gps on our phone. We each got about 200 seed ticks on us (not an exaggeration). We are both still recovering from all the bites making the trail not worth it at all. If you're in this area I highly suggest finding a better trail.

Trail marker says 2 miles. Really enjoyed the first half of the loop. Beautiful views & scenery. Well worth the hike. Once you crossed the road the second time the trail is not maintained. Hard to find the crossing & stay on the trail because of over growth, if we didn’t have gps we would’ve had trouble. Personally would recommend just turning around once you go to cross the road for the second time, not worth all the seed ticks.

easy trail for walking but little to no shade. best suited for biking.

Did this trail with 4 kids ages 6-10. Had some steep climbs but beautiful scenery. At the second road crossing it is difficult to find the trail due to overgrowth. The last quarter to half mile is extremely overgrown. We didn't see anyone the whole 2hrs we were on it. Trailhead says 2 miles.

Parts of trail are very overgrown and hard to follow. Thank god for the gps map on All Trails app.

This looks like more of an ad to get someone to look up a boat service to take you. Should be removed.

excellent short hike with amazing views from the top.

Nice, easy hike. Beautiful tall pine trees. Well marked. Would not make a special trip for the trail but if you are here to camp or picnic, it is a nice walk.
