I’m gonna be honest. This trail was hard as hell (however, I’ve never really climbed a mountain before and I’m out of shape to begin with). The trail can be split into four parts. The first part is easy - not too much of a terrible incline, paths are smooth red clay. The second part gets a bit rockier and a bit steeper. Cue the start of the beautiful views. The third part is the hardest. This part is the reason you should make sure you have hiking boots with good treads - the red rock slopes are dusty and some areas are smooth. The incline is ... definitely noticeable. You may have to do some mild crawling and shuffling. Just follow the trail markers and keep an eye out for foot and handholds. Don’t forget to look behind you to take in the view. The fourth part is the last rocky curves to the trail end. This part is short and goes sideways more than it goes up. Be prepared to be blown away when you reach the summit at the trail end. I highly recommend going to watch the sunset (but bring flashlights and/or a headlamp just in case you leave when it gets dark). For the trip down, be prepared to do some butt sliding (SLOWLY) at certain areas. It’s just easier that way and at that point you’ll be too tired to care. Overall, this hike was 100% worth it. It’s a great physical challenge and the emotions and energy you’ll experience are like no other.

My daughter and I hiked this trail today. We started at 2:30 pm and finished at 5:30 pm. The only problem we had was locating the trail when we descended from the top. Fortunately we found the white arrows, but we got a little worried because it was getting late.

Definitely quick and definitely uphill! Super dramatic views. With it and fulfilling how I imagine the Southwest

No hiking poles needed but bring some gloves. Very clean trail, we only found 2 pieces of garbage. Bring your water, and watch out for the speed runners.

Icy in parts, specifically on the north facing slopes. Although the ice is limited to small areas it is still potentially dangerous in those areas.

Went for the sunset and it did not disappoint! definitely partly a scramble in some sections, but not too bad and worth it!

Not all too difficult of a trail. It should be rated moderate rather than hard. The views are alright and theres not a ton of traffic. A great trail for jogging but besides that I wouldn’t go here again.

Fantastic trail! I hadn’t done it in several years and was worried that it would be more difficult than I remembered. While it is a difficult hike, it’s not impossible. Lots of rock scrambles and some climbing. Gloves or wraps for your hands would be good since you do have to push yourself up in some spots and my hands are a little ripped up now. Beautiful view from the top too!

Get there early! We arrived to the trailhead around noon on a weekend and the lot was full. There was a “Full Lot” sign stoping cars from entering. We ended up parking at a grocery store and taking an Uber. I’m definitely out of shape, and this trail really kicked my butt. Took about 2.5 hours with plenty of breaks and water for my hefty self. There are multiple scrambles on the route. Great scenery and seeing all of the valley from the top is a cool reward.

I've not hiked this mountain in about 15 years and being an old trail runner I remembered why it's been so long. Great hike and workout if you like rock climbing. Not a great trail to run.

Awesome and challenging hike! First time doing it and we were a little worried about how hard everyone had been making it sound, but it was great. It took us novices an hour to get up but it was totally worth it. There wasn’t any sun on the way up at 8am and traffic was light, which was ideal. Highly recommend! Gloves could be helpful for gripping on the rocks while climbing parts.

One of our favourite hikes every time we are in the area. Moderate difficulty.

Very cool trail with a few slick tricky spots. Excellent views from the top.
