Fun trail but definitely not recommended to do in a 2wd. There were some bad parts and was very rough.

Fairly easy to follow thanks to some well placed cairns, very physical but well worth it, great views of Sonoita, my wrightson, even Tucson. When you hit pine park, you will find some beautiful rest spots and well groomed trail to take you to the summit. Strongly recommend this trail, but take a lot of food and water, you will likely hit a wall at some point.

The first half is very well maintained dirt road. You can easily do this in any vehicle. After the midpoint when the trail turns south it is less well maintained. None of this requires a 4x4 unless maybe you go after a lot of rain and it is muddy. Otherwise to do the whole trail you only need pickup truck type clearance for the second half. It has great views and lots of vegetation. Easy trail great for showing those not from around here what the area looks like.

It is a relatively easy trail. Takes about an hour to go from the staging area to the summit where the observatory is. Trail is maintained due to the communication equipment at the summit. But there are rocks falling all the time so watch for large rocks on the trail or washouts when we get heavy rain. The trail is easily done in a stock SUV or any 4x4 . The hardest part is some areas where it is fairly steep. Take time to stop on the way up and enjoy the views as you ascend. There are parking areas with fire pits and picnic tables at the top. Not much shade so if you need it bring your own. This is the highest peak in the low desert at 5,681’. There are multiple mines in the area. Always be careful when walking off trail. You never know where you may find an open mine shaft. This trip we stopped at the Monterey Jack mine. It is a spur that is closer to the bottom than the top. It crosses the wash and takes you to a very rugged trail with some larger rocks and steep climbs on loose rocks. I did it in a stock ‘06 Toyota Sequoia. Just go slow and pick your line wisely. Having a spotter is very helpful for those without a lot of clearance. There is an open vertical and horizontal mine shaft fenced off. Also stone building and other mining structure. The trail gets tougher the further you go. When in doubt get out and look. You can park by the building and walk up if nothing else.

Easy going road. Occasionally, there are both cows and tarantulas so be careful when driving both day and night. The road is always constantly graded, but certain spots do get washed out and be a little bumpy. The scenery is beautiful and you don't need a 4×4.

Easy, fun out & back ride. Didn’t have to engage 4H at all. Really cool remanence of the olden times.

This trail was insane. The first part was for sure not Easy. Then we hit an easy part for a little and after that we went through an area that was tight to say the least and looked like it hadn’t been driven on for YEARS. Would not recommend for anyone near the beginner skill level.

We took this trail back from the Desert bar. This is a real fun trail, it has some great hills to climb and descend. Some exciting off camber spots and then through in some good rock crawling spots. I can't wait to do it again from the other way.

Super fun! This was my first time taking my stock JLU Moab out on a trail. Drove a wide dirt road for a bit and then it opens up to a fun open area that allowed me to get to know my new car. Had a blast and not very crowded on a Friday.

Honesty, after the reviews I was expecting more as far as in off roading and views. I took my stock 2019 4X4 Tacoma and never had to use 4WD... I took the trail clock wise and just the first half or so was an actual off roading trail, the other half was a maintained road to the old native American structures, P.S. the site hours are from 9:30 to 3, we showed up at 2:55 and they had just locked up... I guess this trail would be good if you had a 2WD vehicle or have done little to no off roading before.

A nice moderate trail at almost 9 miles there and back. Dog-friendly, but keep an eye out for atv traffic. Its a moderately trafficked 4x4 road all the way to the falls. Beautiful, but atv heavy. Recommended as a weekday hike with a friend, as you can walk two abreast.
