We got lost on the trail. Wouldn’t recommend. About halfway through when you are supposed to begin the descent the trail just keeps going straight. We couldn’t find where you’re supposed to be able to loop around so we just turned around.

Great family trail easy enough for even children. Trail is clearly marked. Beautiful view of lake and a covered bridge. Trail is a loop so no backtracking needed. Dog friendly though leash is required.

Cherokee Ridge Alpine Trail was a great choice. Only had a few hour as I travel from Montgomery to Birmingham. Great for all ages if you walk your own hike. Well marked and maintained.

To start off, we weren’t aware that certain trails are closed from December to March, as the park websites are quite vague about which areas are closed off. We asked the person at Cheaha state park for better directions, but the only route she showed us ended up being closed off with a detour in the opposite direction. We ended up having to park at the closed gates of the road that should have taken us to the trailhead. After hiking 1.5 miles down the paved road to the trail’s start, we could only make it about 2 miles into the actual trail before having to turn back due to it being slightly overgrown and the sun beginning to set. We made it to the first set of falls, which are definitely worth seeing. “Moderate” is an accurate description, as the leaves and rocks make it pretty slippery in some parts. Worth seeing, but come prepared with water, shoes with good traction, and patience, especially Dec-March.

A beautiful trail on every way. A breath of fresh ever.

Loved this trail!!! Challenging but fun. The waterfall area was spectacular. We didn’t complete the whole trail but the portion we hiked was scenic. The leaves over the tree roots and rocks made for a slippery adventure.

I was surprised by this trail. It was well marked and easy to follow.

Latest walk New Years Eve day 2019. Trail needs some TLC plus updating of blaze system to fill key gaps and to make possible hiking in a counterclockwise direction (and avoid major afternoon glare from the river). All that said, still a surprise hiking experience for the location.

have the problems been fixed with this trail? I plan on hiking it today.

A nice half paved, half wooded trail for jogging or afterwork stroll.

A really nice trail. I ended up skipping 1/3 of the trail because I explored another trail straight down the hill to the water. I planned to go back up but I ended up on the trail anyways. There is alot of shorelines along the trail. It makes a nice spot to stop and rest or even picnic if you wanted to find a large rock.

Nice, easy scenic trail.

This is a nice, well maintained trail. There isn't a lick of cell phone service.. not even AT&T/Cricket or Verizon. That can be a really good thing! This is a really beautiful, peaceful place. About 1/3 around the loop (clockwise) you can take the Pinhoti trail at the connector or take the access road (both are on the back of the lake) and hike to the Historic Shoal Creek Missionary Baptist Church and graveyard. It's an old log church that dates back to the 1800's and has an interesting history. It's very well maintained by the property owners. I'd recommend a vehicle with adequate ground clearance for the drive to Coleman Lake. It's a long dirt road drive from Rabbittown or Heflin.

Nice place for a walk or quick run. The actual track around the lake is about 1/2 mile but you can take your run off track around the park or into the wooded trail to get the extra distance and change of scenery.

Beautiful trail to walk on a fall day! We have walked this trail a couple of times and we will definitely walk it again.

Very pretty and easy. Our daughters, ages 2 and 5, had a great time but had to be carried some of the way back. The bridges could use a little maintenance but other than that it was perfect. Can't beat that lake view!

Great trail but lots of places were hard to find the trail especially in the late fall since there’s lots of leaves on the ground
