Steep at first but the views are worth it! Start of trail right past mongoose junction in Cruz bay. Trail well marked.

Beautiful hike. Great canopy coverage the entire way. Petroglyphs worth the short hike off the trail to see beside a cool waterfall. The beach at the end of the trail is a worthy reward! Take lots of water and save some for the hike back up along with some energy.

Nice trail through Virgin Islands national park. Great view from overlook. Mostly muddy through the jungle. Ends at honeymoon beach and swimming is a nice treat. There is a way to get there by golf cart, as well, so not as isolated as might otherwise be.

Great hike. We spent about an hour and 45 mins taking our time. Great breeze at the top. Views to BVIs, St Croix, St Thomas, and of course back towards St John. Very rocky - would recommend real shoes.

Pretty trail with cool ruins and petroglyphs along the way. The beach is amazing and very quiet. Hardly anyone there. We took our snorkeling gear. Not much to see but we did see a huge spotted ray and some live conch in the seagrass. There is great potential for sea turtle there. Would do again for the beach.

Beautiful flat walk along the beach with bright turquoise water. Wear sneakers since it’s rocky with coral and also bring a towel to dry your feet off. You’ll want to swim and snorkel when you get to the end of the trail. Good living coral to see while snorkeling. We saw parrotfish, blue fish, sea urchins, brain coral, and more! You can also see herons. You’ll be in the sun so wear sunscreen and a hat. Any age could do this hike. Don’t try to do it in sandals.

Easy hike with some rocks so wear sneakers. Parts are exposed to the sun so definitely bring sun screen and a hat. Swimming at Solomon bay after the hike is amazing! So pretty and peaceful. Beautiful views at the top of the trail.

Great trail. It’s more like 3 miles one way. Very good plant coverage, so not crazy direct sun. We went to the Petroglyphs and they were okay, definitely not a must, but only an extra 1/2 mile, so doesn’t add a lot to go see. We spent the day at Reef Bay Beach, with access on the trail past the bathroom (didn’t use it, but looked okay - no toilet paper). Only one other group was there, felt like our own personal beach! We started on the trail at around 11:30, took us an hour and half down (including the petroglyphs), left around 3:30 to go back up, good coverage not too hot. The worst/hardest/steepest part is definitely the very top, so keep a little fuel in the tank for the top! We had about 2 liters of water per person and it was enough. Highly recommend taking a dip in the water at the bottom!

Did this trail twice while I was on St. John. Enjoyable hike, not to difficult. Alittle rocky in some areas but not to bad. Passed a person who was jogging on the trail. Great view of Cruz bay and st Thomas. I did the lower trail on the way in to honeymoon beach. Takes you along the water and to Solomon beach and then to honeymoon beach. If you go early in the morning, you will be the only ones on the beaches. On the way back to Cruz bay, I took the upper trail, make sure to stop at the lookout area that looks over Cruz bay.

Great trail. A lot to see. Beaches, islands, cactus and cliffs. Definitely worth going. The ride out from Cruz bay takes about 45 min. Plenty of parking. Does get hot but that’s expected being in the Caribbean. Windy in some areas, that offers some relief from the heat. Hiked along 2 beaches and salt pond. Swam at the first beach on the way back. Beautiful beach. Could be the most underrated beach on the island. Would do it again next time I’m here.

we hiked up to this on the Reef Bay Trail after hiking down to the ruins via L'Experance and Great Sieben Trail. This section of Reef Bay Trail was is pretty good shape with the exception of one really big tree that we opted to go around. We then of course had to hike back down a bit and up L'Experance to the Great Sieben Trail. The waterfall and petroglyph spot must be amazing after a heavy rainfall. But was still a pretty cool spot.

This trail is officially called L'Experance. We took the Great Sieben Trail to it, as we are staying on the road, where that trail head is. Great Sieben is pretty overgrown in spots, and somehow we managed to miss the fork to the right to take us up to the main trail. . We ended up at the Baobob Tree. The upper part of this trail is pretty clear, it gets more overgrown as you get closer to the bottom. Our legs and arms got pretty scratched up. The beach and ruins down the bottom were great. Though my husband thinks that I tried to kill him.

We checked this trail out on our first day as we were driving around the island exploring. it says elevation 27 feet, but as someone else mentioned, it's probably at least 100 feet or more. The flat grassy area at the top was nice, along with the old windmill. On the way back down, we took the trail down to Denis Beach, which was pretty cool.

Easy short hike along the coast. Bring snorkel gear to snorkel off Watermelon Cay. There can be strong currents so if you are not a strong swimmer bring some sort of flotation device. If you are a strong swimmer pay attention when snorkeling so the current doesnt pull you out. We document all of our hikes. If you are thinking about taking this trail check out our video footage to help you decide: https://youtu.be/LxkZuy8ICF8

We enjoyed the different terrain and views along this trail. And there is at least shade until you leave the rock beach, then it is nothing but cacti. We were surprised how windy it was at the peak so be careful if you get close to an edge! The peak is on a cliff. We did take video footage of the trail if you are trying to decide if it is a hike to add to your list: https://youtu.be/moMuoQQ2N_A

The trail is great hike for at least half day. Going out is mostly down hill, and you could see birds, lizards, hermit crabs, deers, donkeys. It’s covered by trees 70% of the time, and there’s a stream half way of the trail. A lot of mosquitoes around.

Hiked this afternoon and loved the view. This was a challenging trail for me but my walking stick really helped.

This trail rated easy is misleading for anyone with balance, knee or back issues. My girlfriend found boring and non attractive. And very difficult.

Hiked Ram Head to watch the sunrise. Cloud cover was not ideal, so a bit of a letdown from that standpoint. Trail was great before and after sunrise. Good time had by all! Love St. John USVI!!!

This trail is difficult but the pay off with the views makes it worth it.

Plenty of parking at trail head. You should take sunscreen and extra water, noting there is very little cover for the entirety of the hike. Wear decent shoes, noting it can be rocky and loose in some areas you want to explore.
