Note: Drive to the end of craft rd were the rd crosses a high power line and turns to gravel, follow that road to the end and the trail is straight ahead 50ft and there is a 4x4 post in the ground turn right there and you can somewhat follow the trail with dark blue blazes every so often. it is a rarely hiked trail.

The app show the access for the trail going on private property with a no trespassing sign. and there is now trail sign there telling you were to go. so what I did was drive to the end of craft rd were the rd crosses a high power line and turns to gravel, follow that rd 3.5 mi to the end and the trail is straight ahead 50ft and there is a 4x4 post in the ground turn right there and you can somewhat follow the trail with dark blue blazes every so often. it is a rarely hiked trail. I did only hiked 1 mi before turning around because of daylight and the trail wasn't marked very well.

I had high hope for this trail. Although I got a decent workout, I turned around about the 2 mile mark. The trail is so overgrown and unmaintained after the first mile that i was just frustrated with it. MAYBE if i had planned to stop and hike here i would have continued, but i stumbled across it and gave it a go while passing through. Definitely disappointed since this is a National Forest. I followed the sporadic teal colored blazes and signs. They are nowhere near what the app shows for the trail. Also check very closely for ticks during and after. I had two on my shoe laces before I finished.

In all, based on other trails in the area, this trail is pretty nice. It offers some great views of the surrounding area. Awesome rock features dot the ridgeline (big and small rocks). History of the area in unique from old fire tower (where the name of the trail comes from), fire history and the northern boundary is wilderness. Trail was recently cleared (summer 2015) but blazes are sparse. Worth the trip if you're looking for a hike in the area. Only down side...... Gates and access. If the seasonal gates aren't open, plan to have ample time to think because you'll be hiking FS roads to access trailheads.
