Spent my Saturday snowshoeing this trail. The snow was packed and didn't need snow shoes. Spikes would have been sufficient. Beautiful trail! I can't wait to go again.

Always a great hike up to the lake. Spikes not needed it isn’t too slick. A couple feet of snow around the lake but just follow the footprints. Lake is frozen.

I loved this trail. Doing it in the snow was beautiful. Hiked to Desolation Lake but had to break trail the last half mile from snow.

A nice hike if you have 4 hours to kill. There weren't a lot of people on the trail, the fall colors are going away so if you plan to go today and or tomorrow then do it. The desolation lake is perfect to read a book and/or meditate as it's quiet and super peaceful. Don't forget to bring snacks, I saw this girl with a hammock which is a great idea. I saw many squirrels, a deer, and heard a rattle snake.

All the aspens up near the lake are brown and have passed their Fall peak. Gorgeous hike nonetheless. Lots of hunters along the trail.

Fall colors in full right now. Two moose right at the lake today at noon. 10/08. A big bull and cow together.

Great hike with a nice steady incline, for the most part. Beautiful lake. Beautiful fall colors along the way. Not a difficult hike, but just very enjoyable.
