Hike from N. Stanton St to the Wyler Aerial Tramway and Ranger Peak. From the parking area, climb the road to the water tank. Follow the trail east from the tank and up hill. The trail will turn right around the arroyo, then right again and downhill. The trail will continue on the road around a left curve. DO NOT take the trail going uphill to the poles. At a 4 way intersection at 0.8 miles look for a narrow trail on the left that proceeds straight up the spur to a rock house far up the spur. Follow that trail up to the rock house. At the rock house, go to the left around the rock house, then find the trail continuing up the spur. At 1.45 miles you come to a fork joining the Wyler Ridgeline Trail #1. Take the fork right to get to the tramway. Return via reverse route.

Very challenging trail with beautiful views. My three kids were able to finish it and the youngest is 5. We also had our dog. I loved this one! Best in the fall/cooler temperatures for sure.

There are quite a few places to rest on this trail. Overall, definitely worth the 2 hour trip for me. I used poles the entire time and they helped especially for going down. Lots of bees for some reason!

Would give this 3.5/5 but round up to 4. As others have mentioned, the beginning of the trail has small loose rocks that are a bit difficult to get through but this section doesn’t last long. The biggest downside of this hike is how exposed it is. No shade. If you’re going in summer like I did, take a hat, sunscreen, and lots of water. We stopped to rest at a little outhouse about halfway or 3/4 of the way up. This was one of the only shaded resting spots. Including resting time, it took us no more than 2.5 hours to reach the top. You get very nice views of central and west El Paso once you reach the top. The way back down took about an hour and a half. Started at 9am and we’re finished by 12:30. On the way back down it was very hot and sunny (as is expected). Next time I do this trail I will make sure to choose a cloudy day or start much earlier so I can be done by 11, which is around the time that it got uncomfortably warm. We saw no other hikers during this trail, just a family off to the distance but on a different trail so not crowded at all. Good hike, just not my favorite.

leaving at 8 am was a little late. if we had left at 7:00, we probably could have avoided the sun altogether due to the shading of the mountain.

This is an amazing trail. You can bring a pet as long as they’re leashes . There are several ways to get up to the top. Definitely way more than a thousand steps...Hiking shoes with good soles highly recommended . You will be climbing steep hills and go through s lot of lose rocks.

Bring hats and sunscreen. And pay attention so you don’t miss the left turn at around .75 miles in. You need to turn under the power lines and head up a wash for about 300 feet to two pylons. The trail continued up from there.

Very nice hike! The beginning has lose rocks, needs stairs or railing in that section. Difficult coming down to get back to your vehicle.
