Easy hike through desert canyons and washes. Start downhill from the trailhead. Several plants are marked with signs, and benches are provided to rest on at several points on the hike. Proceed 0.43 mi downhill to the junction marked with a sign. Take the trail left. Follow the trail into the canyon, up over the hilltop, and back down and around into the main valley. When you rejoin the main trail at 1.90 mi, follow it southeast and up-hill, past the previous junction, and back up to the starting point.

Mi GPS marco 5 KM. Muy buena ruta, un poco pesada en las subidas. Mis hijos dicen que les pareció muy pesada en las subidas. Mi esposa se torcio un pie en la bajada de una cuesta. A mi me gusto. Te encuentras con algo de gente en la ruta. La volvería a caminar!

It was a quick fun hike, had some challenging spots but the scenery was amazing. I would definitely go again.

A short, yet challenging trail; it took me around 1.5 hours to complete. I recommend hiking this trail clockwise for those who want a good workout. If you choose to go counterclockwise, the elevation gain is more gradual, however, coming down the other side is harder on the joints than the clockwise route.

Fun trail. Good workout while hiking. I followed the west trail and looped around. Bring water and wear a hat. Bugs are out too but you get used to them.

Nice trail! This time I did it with some of my friends, although it was the first week of July the weather was pleasant, not too hot. We enjoyed a lot.

Nice views and easy to follow BUT steep declines with lots of loose rock. Definitely take a walking stick and hat.

My family and I hiked it today. Took an hour at our pace. Not too many people. This is the main access to the longer biking trails so be alert for bikers on the descent. Fun hike for us. Ascent leaves your blood pumping at the end. Good time for us.

Short trail. Not my favorite in the park.

Not too difficult, path well indicated, nothing special to see, not much trafics. Toilet available at trailhead.

We weren’t sure if we were going the right way. Watch out for cacti and ocotillo- but it was fun and enjoyable!

Well marked trail with some elevation. Went with my daughter, 12 year old granddaughter, and her dog. They completed the trail with no problem. Make sure you take some water - no brainer, but be safe - even on short trails.

A nice lollipop trail. The stick of the lollipop is not that exciting, but the loop part is worthy.

Combining the Schaeffer Shuffle trail with part of the Lower Sunset trail, as I did today, makes the trip more interesting. You add just 1.3 miles and you enjoy fantastic vistas.

Very nice trail, not too long not to steep, with wonderful views of the Franklin Mountains. You walk near a beautiful small canyon contemplating a nice landscape.

Very easy to get off course. If you’re like us, you’ll take the first right which will eventually lead you into a gravel valley area. We went right up the crevasse (instead of out, like I believe was intended). We tracked it using the app and made our way back out to the normal trail but not before some rock climbing through mild vegetation. Either way, it was very cool and the views were great. Might be harder for small children due to the intense climb back up the hill at the end.

We are beginner hikers with four small children (ages 4, 3, 2 and 1). This trail was definitely difficult for us, but the view at the top was breathtaking and we made it to the end!

A bit challenging if you are over 70 and recovering from a fractured femur. I don't think this would be suitable for children under 8.

The trail seemed longer than it was. The 8 and 10 yr old struggled in places and we had to take lots of breaks. The way back up to the camp site/restrooms was the hardest after the trail. 8 yr old was mad and crying! Saw no one on the trail. The view was nice but most of the cacti have died along the way.

Went right, counter counter clockwise through the loop and missed the trail going north and had some fun working my way through the little valley to the right of the trail, which involved a little light rock climbing, and getting around some thorny bush and cactus. Went off trail again heading back, luckily I had my phone to get me back on course.

Holy cow! This was harder than I thought but the view was nice

A pleasant surprise, especially when the late summer rain brings all the wildflowers into bloom!

Had some difficulty finding the trail head (it's behind the restrooms), and we wandered off course once or twice, but overall a great hike. Used the app to stay on course after the first detour. No shade and several steep slopes to climb.
