Great, easy hike, some spots were moderate as in having to go up a short/steep incline. Also it has rained recently and I had to jump a bit of water on the trails. No biggie. It’s very clear that on dry days this would have been an even easier hike. I was just impatient and wanted the challenge. Would absolutely go back. One concern is, the trails are not clearly marked. They are there and there is a map but when you’re on them and need to make a move to another trail it’s not clear where you are.

It is a designated equestrian trail. A sign is posted for no bicycles, but hikers seem to be allowed. The trail is not maintained well, and the horses have destroyed it. Horse flies and ticks are everywhere, thorny vines, and poison ivy have overgrown across the trail. I do not recommend using this trail at all.

It is definitely the horse trail but the rangers at the park said it was for hiking too. We started our hike around 8am and got about 6 miles. It can take more than that if you do every subtrail on the trail. Bring water, there is no short cuts back to camp. When you are in, you're in. We didn't encounter any horses, just their poop. Saw one deer only. Many parts are challenging the deeper into the trail you go.

This is designated as an equestrian trail but I have hiked it several times if there isn’t anyone with horses at the campsites. Always lots of deer. Great 2-3 hour hike.

Pleasant hikes in both State parks. The Sulphur river unit is a little more challenging then the Doctor's creek unit. I have encountered wild pigs on the Sulphur river unit trails so be careful.

There are actually two Cooper lake locations. This site directs you to the Dr.'s Creek side. Not the South Sulphur side. Dr.'s Creek trail review - This is a really simple trail. No hills or challenging maneuvers. If you are looking for a challenging bike ride you will find this pretty boring. If you want a simple stroll or walk this is a great trail. So easy the work hike doesn't fit it. South Sulphur Trail review - This is a fun trail. It isn't too challenging, but it isn't so easy that its boring.Probably around 5 miles long, but I'm not sure. There are some great hills & slightly rough terrain. This trail is probably a 3 star. I wouldn't make a day trip just to visit this location, but if you are already in the area it is worth it.
