Was not able to make it up to the trail head, 4x4 vehicle is necessary coming in from the south, not sure about the north. **edit** looking back, if you use the apple maps function from AllTrails make sure you’re taking the route to the park, after studying different maps I realize that the apple maps was trying to take me some other way.

The trail head is a bit hard to see, it is to the right of the information booth, to the left of a driveway that says " private property" and before the gate to the state forest. It is a nice short hike with uneven ground (rocks and tree roots) and some slippery areas. It is a bit steep in places but overall not difficult if you are in shape. The view at the top is spectacular, it is a 360 degree view of the whole island. It took us less than 2h total including a snack break at the top.

Great family hike through the rainforest. There are down trees but easy to go around or this would be a 5 star trail. One of the best vistas of the entire island for only .5 miles of uphill effort! Hardest part is just driving the one lane road to get here. Temps are lower in the mountains so perfect for hiking. Entrance is located in front of a house with some guard dogs. There are picnic stops for breaks along the way. Can be muddy if it rains but mainly a rock trail.
