This is a really nice, solidly moderate skill level, well-maintained trail with some terrific views of Mount Hood and, on a clearer day, many of the surrounding peaks. The crowd thins after Mirror Lake. Just be sure to turn left at the pile of rocks near the top. If you continue further down along the rocks at the summit you can find a nice little point away from most of the crowd. If you want a view of Mount Hood, definitely check the weather as it can sometimes be cloudy. Crampons and poles recommended if planing to summit. During busy season you will need a NW Forest Pass (if you don't have the pass you will need to buy a $5 day pass, which you can't do at the trailhead so plan ahead).

Did this hike last summer. It was easily one of the most beautiful hikes I’ve been on. The trail was well maintained. It gets pretty steep, especially towards the end, so use caution. Super pretty and I would definitely do this again.

Lot of snow, but still doable. Make sure you stay on the trail. Bring extra jackets for the top.

Wonderful hike 1/5/20!! We arrived about noon and were surprised we were able to park at trailhead, as we read we’d have to park at ski bowl west parking lot. We started with snow shoes (since we were so excited to use them haha) but took them off and did just fine with boots. Beautiful hike with just the right number of people. Really fun and we’ll look forward to doing it again when there’s more snow!!

Did this hike today 1/05/2020. What a wonderful hike! I got to the trailhead around 7 am and it was empty. The trail on the way up was in good shape. I did fine without snow shoes, I did use my spikes though. Sadly today wasnt that clear up there so no great views. I'll definitely go back on a more clear day.

Late post as I did this hike in Jan of 2018...After hiking Mirror Lake several times, I finally ventured on. Tom Dick and Harry was completely worth the venture! Things to consider are it is a heavily trafficked trail, parking can be a bit of a challenge, and depending on time of year you go you may need to pack extra gear (I used snowshoes, slopes and boots and just boots the different terrains.) I will definitely be hiking this again.

Fabulous hike. Went all the way to the top ( a lot of people stop at a point that is 3.6 miles out) and that is not the end of the trail. Conditions warrant poles at a minimum and preferably spikes as especially the downhill on many point ( especially below mirror lake) are very very slick. Wore hiking boots and slid probably 10-12 times. Views from the top make this an epic adventure to pursue as the beauty is stunning.

A long ways to the top but so worth it even though the fog hid Mt Hood. We brought snow shoes but they weren’t necessary. Hiking poles are helpful! Bring gloves and keep warm up there. It’s still snowing!

Really good trail, you can tell it’s well maintained and is diverse throughout. The lake is beautiful with really nice camp spots. Currently the trail is about 50% covered with snow up to the viewpoint, but it’s totally doable in regular boots without micro spikes. Did not go past the viewpoint because the rocks were covered in snow and it was kind of sketchy.

Beautiful trail! It was super snowy, but the trail is so packed down no snowshoes were needed.

Trail past the viewpoint on AllTrails map was difficult to find. Recommend turning back after the viewpoint. Fresh snow on the trail, micro spikes and trekking poles not necessary but will make it much easier. Mirror Lake is frozen over. Hat, gloves, and scarf recommended. Gaiters also would have been a plus. Awesome views of Mt Hood, St Helens, and Adams on a clear day.

Very solid trail. Relatively easy until the very top about half a mile from the summit because of boulders. Stopped there but was still 8 miles round trip. Mirror Lake is lovely and had a clear day with Mt Hood in all of her glory. Love this hike

Great trail and in good condition. It is not 9 miles. My GPS watch clocked 7 miles round trip. Carried a 4 y/o kid on my back the whole way up. Mirror lake is a great pit stop!

Awesome trail. No snow. The view point is awesome but if you continue up the ridge towards the summit there are other view points that are less crowded!

Zero snow, Zero mud. Ample parking. All 5 mountains were out! Mirror Lake frozen over. Beautiful quiet trail day!

We went there on Tuesday, November 5th. There were quite a lot of people on the trail. It was a great hike. We had a sunny and clear day and got to see five summits! Here are a few tips: - This time of year the lake is mostly frozen, so don't expect a mirror reflection. - Many people go only to the viewpoint near the end of the trail. We recommend going a bit further (short of five minutes) to get a much better view of the lake. - Once you pass the viewpoint the trail gets much less maintained. It's rocky and sometimes hard to follow. - The endpoint is certainly nice but not a must. You don't get a significantly different view from there. - After about 2 or 3pm the lake doesn't get much sun, so it's recommended to get there earlier.

I love this hike - went up for sunrise this morning and highly recommend! The sun rises more behind Mt. Hood in the summer months, but it was still beautiful! Also, I tracked the whole hike on my Apple Watch and it said 7.07 miles even with the new trailhead start so I’m not sure why All Trails says 9 miles? The trail is in great shape with zero snow or mud!

Usually a great hike - pretty wet this morning though. New trail is a bit over 1 mile longer round trip. My GPS showed 4.2 mi one-way to the actual T D and Harry Mtn summit, beyond the first overlook where most people stop. Then I continued to ski resort and ended up taking an old bike trail (now closed) down to new parking lot. So my line was a bit over 7 mi for loop. Would have been 8.4 if I did out and back.

On a sunny fall day, the trail was empty early in the morning. The views at the top were spectacular. Got to see 5 mountain tops today! Would love to come back for a sunrise hike

Starts as a broad well maintained trail that gradually narrows and starts to climb. Well travelled so clear and easy to follow, only slightly muddy in spots. Only a couple of scrabble spots and kids seemed to be fine but note there is a fair amount of elevation so they may need some persuasion! Shaded most of the way until you get to Mirror Lake and again from there to the Viewpoint, which means on a crisp sunny November day it can be a bit chilly. As others have said, there is road noise on the way up to the lake but as you get closer to the lake the noise disappears and you can enjoy the sounds of nature. We were rewarded by reflections of Mt Hood on the frozen lake and beautiful views of Hood, Jefferson, Adams, Rainier and St Helens. Definitely worth the effort on a clear sunny day!

Wonderful hike today, although temperatures were cool and we had some snow showers on the way up. No views because of the clouds, but a gorgeous hike nonetheless. Well marked path, some rocks and roots. Moderate traffic and lots of dogs on leashes. Hope to return.
