We hike the Crescent Mountain Trail Monday. Weather was fair with a little overcast but enjoyed some great views on top. Trail is clear of fall down, be careful of roots and some soft holes. Enjoyed the the old growth forest, and meadow with wild flowers. I would recommend this trail to the hikers that are in good hiking shape.

Beautiful day with bear grass quickly disappearing. Many other wild flowers still available to enjoy. Fewer mountain bikers than last year’s visit. More dogs, frequently off leash. Near the top there is evidence of a dozen or so evergreens that have been girdled, which means they will die. Not clear why this has been done. While it was mildly hazy today, the views were quite enjoyable. Start early and the heat won’t be as bad when you return to the parking area.

Bear grass super-bloom going on right now! Looks almost alien, there is so much... absolutely stunning! This is such a great hike... 4.6 miles to the top (9.2 RT). Some steep sections, but very manageable. The lower 3 miles is all in the forest so you won't get overheated... and the last bit switchbacks through the upper meadows in the most beautiful way! Tons of wildflowers, butterflies... we saw the elusive wild Cascade lilies! And the view from the top cannot be beat with my fave, Mt. Jefferson, looking quite handsome. (Bring bug spray.)

This hike is in perfect condition right now. Minimal bugs and wildflowers in bloom in the meadows.

Wow, easily one of my favorite trails in Oregon. The first 1.5mi is fairly flat followed by a steep incline all the way to the top. The wildflowers were absolutely out of this world. Well worth the trek!

Trail steadily climbs after the first mile or so. When you arrive at the meadows in July, the wildflowers are beautiful. This year, the bear grass is special. Crescent has the best display I’ve seen. In recent years this trail has grown in popularity with mountain bikers. All have been pleasant and happy to share the trail. Great climb and views at the top are awesome. Jefferson is the focal point, but don’t forget to check out pretty Crescent Lake below to your left.

The trail was quiet and in good condition. There is definitely a climb on the way up, but it's spread out enough that hikers of varying abilities could make it up. If you have dogs, kids or bike tirway- watch out for a ton of broken glass at the top of the summit. View was amazing and wildflowers helped guide the way.

Wonderful hike. Trillium & Calipso irchids in bloom. Packed snow for the last mile in the trees... Be prepared. I'll definitely go back soon for more blooms. Bear grass & six foot tall lillies are worth the grade!

Great views of Three Finger Jack and Mt Jefferson. Nice trail, narrow though and lots of Mt Bikers. Great old growth forests. No water except near south trailhead. Used this trail to connect to the Old Cascade Crest loop trail.

Hiked this trail two weeks ago. Nobody at the trailhead when we arrived. Gradual elevation loss for first mile or so & then the climbing begins. Switchbacks with good tread get you up the mountain with views of the 3 Sisters, Mt. Washington and the 3 Pyramids along the way. The tree line opens up to an amazing meadow filled with wildflowers, bear grass & throngs of butterflies. It was amazing. The final push to the top is along a ridge line & you pop out to the site of an old fire lookout. The view of Mt. Jefferson here is fantastic! Take some time to catch your breath as you take in the views before heading back down. Check out the alpine lake below before departing. Side note, active logging is visible from this viewpoint.

Hiked it Jun 8, 2018. Not nearly as difficult as I expected. Without a heavy pack it would have been a piece of cake. The view at the top is pretty good. However, the wildflowers were not in bloom. The trail starts out in the forest for about half of it and then opens up into a huge meadow with a few long switchbacks to get up the hillside. At the top, the forested area feels much older than down below, and was the only part of the hike I was really impressed by. Also, watch out for mountain bikers. We ran into 5 or 6 on our hike, and they can get going pretty fast coming down the steep slopes. Water is available at the creek near the bottom, and there are a couple of ephemeral springs a little past that. Once into the meadow, there are no more water sources for the remainder of the hike. I recommend nearby cone peak trail for a much cooler view and way more wildflowers and variation in the types of terrain and ecosystems. Plus you can do cone peak and iron mountain on the same hike.

Fabulous views at the top. Old lookout tower site.

Did this trail this past Sunday and what a glorious view. The hike was intense and I did get a little sick at the top from the altitude adjustment, but the struggle was worth it. Go on a clear day because you can see everything. Take your time and enjoy the mountain tops. Stop and smell the wildflowers. You will not be disappointed with this hike.

Nice hike, elevation is a bit tough at parts but is manageable. Trail is well marked, there was a bit of water at the start but nothing on the second half. The views from the top are unbelievable on a clear day. Today we saw everything from Rainier to 3 sisters. At the top there are remnants of an old lookout tower, but be careful with dogs as there is TONS of broken glass. Very little snow on the peak and almost none on the trail. Highly recommended day hike, we completed in a little over 6.5 hours taking our time and taking a long lunch at the top.

This is a great hike in the Cascade foothills outside of near Detroit, OR. Trail starts easy enough, but then it ascends until you reach the "top" of the mountain. There are views of the 3 Sisters, Mt. Jeff, and on a really good day Mt. Washington, Hood, and even Rainier.

Plenty of shade in the forest, as you hike up, up, up to the wide open view of the mountain tops. Keep going it's worth making it to the top where you can sit up there and soak in the view. Once you do make it to the top if you look to the left over the edge you will see a small lake (it's green), and I am guessing it must be Lava Lake. There is a flat cement slab at the top that will easily fit two people. Over to the left is Jefferson Mountain, and to the right you can see Sisters three mountain tops, you are looking down on the forest. It's over 5,000 feet up at the top and it's a bird's eye view for sure.
