Gorge Overlook Trail to Cedar Falls back through Buckeye Trail to Old Man's Cave. It skirts the rim of the Old Man's cave area to Rose Lake and then over to Cedar Falls. This is a nice trail with some hills and only one steep part on the approach toward Rose Lake.

Really a beautiful trail with both a riparian valley, a pretty lake and sweet little waterfalls. Lots of people on the trails but still worth it - fewer folks on the Gorge trail portion which was easy and broad. The lower part of the Buckeye trail does require a little navigation around mud and tree roots but the views of the rock cliffs and creek were just beautiful. Do this one!

A good amount of variety on the trail with a decent number of interesting formations.

Great hike!! A majority of the hike follows the water and isn’t very populated by other people which made it very nice! Also a great way to see a majority of the hot spots of hocking hills.

Awesome trail! We did all 6 miles and it took about 3.5 hours. The popular areas like Cedar Falls and Old Man’s Cave were totally packed but once we got on the trails connecting them it died down a lot. Our dog made it along with us with no problems as well. We did Old Man’s Cave then took a right and we’re glad we did. It starts off pretty rocky if you go that way with some scrambled areas so the last two miles were chill and just trails.

Get here early and it won’t be too crowded. Had Old Man’s Cave area almost to ourselves. Buckeye portion shaded and in woods and gorge overlook portion had a wide easy to walk trail. Took under 3.5 hours with plenty of time to enjoy the views and take photos.

Pretty hike, easy terrain. The biggest downfall was how overpopulated the trails are. It was tough to just enjoy the beauty bc of the crowds.

We did this last weekend. Only went to Rose lake and back due to threat of storms. Will be back to do the full loop.

We did this hike last week and it was more than I expected. The waterfalls are beautiful. The trail from Old mans cave to Cedar falls had some flooding due to the amount of rain they received but was well worth the trip I would do it again in a heartbeat

The lower part of the gorge was sooooo beautiful. Green, mossy, wet and muddy. Was a bit slower going but more rocks to climb over. The upper rim was a great relief and much quicker. So glad we did this hike. Will def be back!

I've done this trail too many times to count. I love it. We take kids, dogs and out of towners there multiple times a season. It doesn't get old.

Another beautiful trail in HH State Park. From the parking lot near the visitor’s center, you can access quite a few of the trails. We decided on the gorge trail – so we could be closer to the water. Every direction you look results in a postcard photo. The trail is moderate – mostly due to the elevation change. We went the first week of April, and conditions were cold and icy. The trails are not very challenging – but they are beautiful. This park is a must-do if you are in the area.

As others have said, the Old Man’s Cave and Cedar Falls areas are busy with a lot of people; we tend to arrive early (around 8:30) so as to avoid the crowds and it seems to work well. This trail is mostly easy with some moderate areas (where the trail has washed out, rock scrambles, etc.). Overall, it’s a very accessible hike with varied terrain and some beautiful sights—just get there early if you want to enjoy said sights without a bunch of people and screaming kids.

Beautiful hike. Was a little icy today I would definitely suggest on icy days taking some sort of traction aids.

An incredibly beautiful walk through the gorge and on the rim. It is busy from the park office to the old mans cave then all the non-hikers turn back. Once you are past the old man’s cave the number of hikers decreases immensely. It’s a beautiful, peaceful walk that has only a few moderate areas of hiking. I will definitely be back.

Sooo I loved this hike! I’m in my thirties.. very do-able. However, my two hiking buds were in their 60s annnd this was a bit strenuous for them. 100% recommend trekking poles for someone who isn’t as able- bodied or wants that extra support. I would describe it as light rock crawling lol ... muddy, sometimes slick. I’d say it was about 6 miles round trip. The trail was beautiful though! I just probably wouldn’t have chosen this trail if I knew it was going to be as challenging for those I was with. I’d also leave the pups at home... ours pull way too much for this one. I’ll be back better prepared :) and wear better footwear than tennis shoes.. I doubt this area is ever dry.

The Gorge Overlook was a pleasant, easy trail. It gets crowded by Old Man’s Cave. Recommend to go early morning to beat the crowds.
