It starts out as part of another trail which is very well marked and cleared. The odd part of the beginning is that it is pretty much all downhill, so when you're coming back it's extremely exhausting. The beginning of the falls trail isn't too bad, it's obviously been cleared and maintained. However, once you hit a campsite it seems like the trail ends. Looking on the maps my group realized that we still had several miles to go until the falls, but with no trail. We follow the map and find a semblance of what once was a trail, but had overgrown and been eroding over many years. After a couple of miles of trail blazing we gave up, as our legs and arms were extremely cut up by thorny plants. The beginning trail was well maintained and the parts of the river we saw were beautiful. If you're going to do this hike be prepared to go off-trail and make sure you have some sort of navigation.
