Nice lookout. Has steep areas, mostly secluded with a beautiful lookout.

This trail is only 10 minutes from my home, so I love it for the ease and access of it. It’s a great trail to do when I have less time and yet need to get out in the woods. During the week it’s almost always empty, so if you’re like me and you like to be out in the woods by yourself, this may be perfect for you! It’s nothing “glamorous” and yet it’s quite a beautiful walk through the woods, and has decent views up top. It’s definitely steep, there’s a lot of loose rocks on areas of the path, and coming down can be rough on the knees.

Pretty decent short hike with an easy enough trail to follow. Gets a bit steep but still easy going. More relaxing and secluded than anything spectacular. Hardest part is finding the trail head. There is a pull out on either side of the road, the trail starts right in the middle of the one on the south side, across the road from the Continental Divide sign.

A decent trail for a short workout. It’s not very strenuous, just a bit steep at times. You park on the side of the road, the trail is hard to find because it is entirely overgrown. I walked past it several times before I finally saw it. I didn’t go all the way to the top, I turned around .2 mile before the top. There was some animal in the woods, I think a bear or something else. It was following me and made me uncomfortable as I was attacked by a bear a year ago.

Parking is a pull-off of Highway 74A adjacent to the continental divide and change from Gerton to Fairview. I would rate the trail as moderately strenuous, since most of it is fairly steep uphill to the top and likewise coming down. The trail is eroded in places, and tends to be overgrown in others. Wear sturdy shoes and long pants because of uneven footing and poison ivy. The view at the top is nice, and there are good sitting rocks available. The trail also connects with a yellow blazed trail slightly off to the side at the top, which goes down the backside of the mountain. Some of that trail looks rough cut and new. Although the shade from tall trees was enjoyable, I plan to try this hike again in the winter, hoping for leafless views during the climb, and a panoramic view at the top.
