Pisgah is beautiful every day of the year and to a certain degree if you really want to get a feel for it, you’ll want to get out in all types of weather. Enjoyed this hike on a cold and rainy day with minimal views. The lichens and old mans beard are loving the cool wet weather and the higher elevations. This is an easy to access hike. The initial climb is a good one so take your time. I have only done it clockwise so can’t comment on direction choice. Bennet Gap is a lovely trail with some nice terrain and potential for views. I added a section and took the roads to return to Perry Cove. Shifting weather patterns on the ridge make temperature and wind changes common in bad conditions but it’s all part of the experience. On the return, you’ll pass the stables and cross a bridge. Look for Bennet Gap on your right and enjoy the slow climb back to the return on Coon Tree. These trails connect to a wide array of others and easily be used as a jumping off point for a multi day hike or to get to black mountain or pink beds. Enjoy it out there!!
