Nice winters run! Arch not well marked. Missed it on the run. Going back another day to catch it!

this trail is really cool! definitely overgrown, scramble isn't too difficult, except for trying to find the trail since the arch isn't visible until you're about 15 feet from it. it's likely closer to 2.1 miles rather than 1.7mi. follow the trail through the riverbed and you'll be on the right track.

we started this hike late morning and probably should have started sooner because there's not a lot of shade. Bring plenty of water and a hat and enjoy scrambling the last quarter mile. The path is Rocky but doable.

It's a great view from the top but has been washed out from recent floods. Bring extra water because there really isn't any shade.

The top of the trail is worth the effort to get up there, but the path isn’t well marked. There was definitely some scrambling getting up and scooting/sliding coming down. We brought our dog and she did it but I wouldn’t say this was dog friendly. We picked her up to get her down in certain spots. Great view once you get to the top! Edit: don’t hike this trail with your dog unless they have really tough feet or are wearing dog booties. Or maybe just have them opt out of this one. Got home and my dogs feet are blistered. It was not a hot day and we only hiked this path, so it had to be the rock.

This is a gorgeous hike. Mitchell trail is easy, but the trail rapidly turns more difficult after you start up the mountainside. Spectacular views of the Sangre de Cristo mountains and the entire Espanola valley. You can see the arch from near the beginning of the trail but once you're on the rocks you can't see it again till you're right on top of it. Follow the rock cairns up and be prepared to butt-scoot in a few places on the way back down.

Very enjoyable trail but the last part is pretty rocky. I thought my dog wasn't going to be able to do it but she proved me wrong. However I did have to pick her up a few times on the way down to lower her off the rocks to the next ledge.

Follow the Cairns!

Hiked this in February with a lot of snow. It made the trail hard to follow at times but using the map on the AllTrails app will keep you on track. Well worth the views! Perfect for a shorter moderate intensity hike.

Gorgeous views of city! Trail includes a good push towards the end to make it up, but well worth it. Bring snacks to enjoy with the view! Follow the Mitchell Trail and look for the offshoot trail on the right. Involves some scrambling/climbing. If the small parking lot is full, parking in the residential area near the trail head is okay.

The trail is well marked by cairns.

I love this hike! The gps feature of this app was very helpful as I did get turned around. Once you get to the rocks just follow the trail makers and you'll get to the arch! I also didn't see anyone else the whole time which is always a great touch.

We never found the Arch. We went a few miles off the path even just looking for it but never did. The trail itself isn't clearly marked so we were constantly wondering which way was the correct way. Lots of fallen trees and plants/flowers in the trailway (which is fine). Do it if you want to go for a hike but not if you want beautiful views along the way.
