Great well maintained trail with many options to make it more challenging. The trail is well marked, the blazes are nice and white. The hike right along the Hudson River is really rocky. There are a few downed logs across the path. The hill that heads down towards shore trail to the right of the fork is slippery when wet. I recommend wearing hiking boots for the ankle support. Saw many other hikers along the trail and many dogs enjoying the trail as well. Even though there is signage posted that dogs must remain on leashes, I saw many dogs walking off-leash. This might be a deterrent for some. Overall it was great.

Did our own version of this trail, branching off in the middle to connect with the “long trail” so we could see the ruins of the Cliffdale Manor. Great experience overall, a few steep sections to raise your heart rate but not too difficult, and some great river views.

I believe 5 stars because it’s a Great trail and amazing scenery I don’t know if this map is accurate or we just got turned around. We decided just to walk to the end of the trail and turn around and walk back it took a lot longer than we thought we did 5.1 miles to walk to the end and back took us about 3ish hours. We also had our 3 dogs with us. It was very rocky I suggest some boots not sneakers. Also there were down trees that you had to climb over. FYI CHECK FOR TICKS!!! all 3 dogs were covered with larva one corgi had around 100+ on him. We must have come across a fresh hatching cause we had a ton of hitchhikers. We did the trail in 9/12/19 such a great scenery but it would be a while before we got hiking again with the 3 dogs

Just under 6 miles in about 2.5 hours with little rest but a few chances to take pics. The AllTrails map I followed was slightly inaccurate - I’ve recorded a fun counterclockwise loop that’s easy to follow. Pretty easy for avid hikers. Started early on a brisk Fall morning. Made a few added stops along a jetty. Very nice flats along the Hudson and a short but steep climb back up to the parking lot. Enjoy!

Lots of trees and shade. Part of the trail is near the river, which is incredibly beautiful.

Summer Time Day Hike: Complexity: Moderate Terrain: Rocky and flatland - If you are taking the shore trail and long trail its mostly rocky and muddy. Shadow: Lot of over grown plants on short trail and in long trail you will never see sun cuz of tall trees Trekking Pole: I did without one. But it might be helpful when you are climbing the mountain at the end of short trail to long trail. Foot Wear: Better wear something with good grip, the rain makes the rocks slippery. Lot of protection needed for your toes. Even i have seen some trail runners. Scenic View: Hudson River was beautiful. Initial couple of mile you wil be going on the shore. pretty scenic. And once you climb the mountain, there is an amazing monument which is built in the early 19th century. View from there is awesome. Do take camera ;) Trail Markers: Trail markers are easy to locate but as this is a combination white trail, white and blue trail while climbing the moutain. And the long trail is marked green. You might not need a map keep right entire way except when you climb the mountain on white blue trail Parking: There is a parking fee of$5 at at the dock. There are more than 50 spots Or you can also park on the road Permit: N/A Animal Encounter: Did not see anything except squirrels Overall timing: I completed in 3.5 hours with lots of photo breaks. Start early to do day hike the view is beautiful Streams : As there was lot of summer rain, i could see lots of steams. Plenty of water Traffic: Saw lots of hikers and trail runners Campsites: Lots of dispersed camp sites and picnic areas around the lake, I even saw people fishing and picnicing Pet: Take plenty of water, its will be very tiresome for your little one. Need to be leashed

Nice for a walk. Not much of a hike.

Hikers beware- copperhead snake was hanging out on the actual beach trail. It was hidden in between rocks and could not be seen from even a couple feet away. Please keep your eyes open and look out for this snake- especially if you have dogs with you. Venomous and easy to miss. Assuming it likes to hang out on the rocks.

Brief summary: a relaxing hike with a difficult rock scramble in the middle. We parked by the docks as suggested but FYI there is a $5 fee per car, and there are clean bathrooms to use. It’s flat terrain alongside the shore. There is a rock scramble to go up on top of the cliff which was difficult but fun! Then you loop back at the top with a few nice scenic views. Also FYI map says to follow blue/white trail but it’s marked green. We saw two deer and a lizard and only a few people despite being a beautiful Sunday afternoon. The hike is mostly in shade too so even though it was 90degrees it was bearable! Have fun!

I’ve decided to hike the entire loop which took me 4hrs 43min. It’s best to do the entire thing, park at the boat ducks and start from there. Very rocky in some parts, ensure hands are free for climbing. I had a lot of fun, will do it again just note to myself carry less stuff.

This trail is so much fun ! You hike right along side the water with a great view of Yonkers . Great work out due to varied terrain . You can hike this trail for at least 3 hours and you don’t see too many people on these trails . The markers are white and can be a tad hard to see due to the moss but there’s only one trail so there’s no way for you to get lost ! If you’re not sure , check this trail out and you’ll be very much surprised !
