Nice hike. went up sandwich mtn trail and descended Drakes brook trail. I prefer to go up the steep and down the gradual, worked out well. Great outlooks from noon peak and especially Jennings peak. A bit of a grind to the summit of sandwich, but expected, cant get to the top without going uphill. Great but partially treed in views from sandwich. some steps some mud, some bugs some water, a classic hike, great loop. My dog did it well, but I leashed him up as some of the view points as they're literally sheer cliffs and I'm not sure if hes smart enough to not jump off. Took a wade, wallow in drakes brook on way out, cold but refreshing. hard to believe the gradual decent of drakes brook matches the ascent up sandwich mtn trail. Great hike, worth doing. We made good time and wrapped it all up in 4.5 hours with breaks.

We love this trail! Absolutely so fun, have to be okay with some scrambling and bushwhacking when the signs aren’t clearly marked. Would recommend to all those who appreciate the beauty of the white mountains!

It has a pretty good elevation gain in short term. if you are planning to come back before sunset start as early as you can. Definitely a strenuous hike but the views are worth it!

7/27/2018...FYI if you are looking to hike this trail, we tried today and the "stream" crossing was a gushing river and we weren't willing to attempt its crossing. Dog tried and almost washed away. Great disappointment. Walked back and attempted Drake's Brook Trail and ran into the same problem. Moral, don't attempt this hike during or right after a wet spell!

First start to 2018 hiking. This trail was a beautiful hike. there was great view points some i didn't get to mark on the recording, but i did get pictures! The terrain of this hike had many rooted trails following rock trails that you had you physically climbed over.Elevation gain was high in the first mile or so then tapered off for .3 of a mile then it would jump back up. This hike i would not recommend to newer hikers yes it is part of the 52 with a view in NH, but keep in mind its the highest in elevation on the list. Give it a shot its worth the views!!! Look at the picture i took.

Steep. The inclines are very steep and covered with ice.

What a great hike! I'm still feeling it in my knees today. The first 1.25 miles or so are very steep, with an elevation gain of about 2000 feet. From there it's pretty easy until you get about 1/2 mile from the summit, where it gets steep again. The trail is pretty narrow, with lots of rocks and roots to slip on and trip over. The trail could be marked better, most of the blazes I saw were pretty faded. The summit is really anticlimactic given the effort to reach it, but you do have a good view of the eastern end of Waterville Valley and Mt. Tripyramid. There are also a couple ledges on the way that offer good views, though obviously from lower elevations. If you're not too tired I recommend taking the steep 0.2 mile trail to ~3460' Jennings Peak, with its great views to the west. I took Sandwich Mountain Trail both ways, but according to the map the Drakes Brook Trail looks to be relatively moderate until about 1/2 mile from the summit. Maybe I'll take that trail if I hike the mountain again. All in all a great hike, challenging and physically punishing for this out of shape 48 year old guy.

Great winter hike, we got a neat perspective from Jennings even with the clouds. Very steep terrain but we managed with microspikes.

Today was a humid day and it has been raining on and off for a week before this hike and the trails were showing it. Slippery rocks, roots and it looks like it does not get much sun on this trail. I won't be going on this trail again, not much for views and lots of moss on the rocks. The pictures I took was from Jenning peak, which is on the way to Sandwich Dome. Sandwich Dome peak was disappointing, narrow views and not much room for hikers (4 comfortably).
