Pine Link provides direct access to the north side of Mt. Madison and the presidentials. The trail is steep and rocky in many sections below treeline, and is very exposed to wind and weather above treeline. This trail is not pleasant to descend but provides an ideal start for a N-S pres. traverse.

Bugs galore!!!!! Bring a whole bottle and apply liberally!!!!!!! Trail is well marked. Muddy in spots, but not overly muddy. Parking is very isolated so I parked by the cemetery and walked to the trail head. I just didn’t feel comfortable leaving my packed car in such a desolate area.

This trail is very hard but rewarding. It’s a constant ascend all the way to the to top. Bring your hiking boots! At times it feels like your rock climbing. We were able to complete this hike with our Australian Shepard. If your dog isn’t athletic I wouldn’t recommend bringing your dog. Snow in some areas but no need for snow shoes.

Rewarding hike but not for the weak. Not for every dog either, make sure your dog has stamina to handle it. Not paved, very rocky. Beautiful view

Good ascent to Madison with good viewpoints about 2/3 up. I would say this is Hard not moderate and a very difficult descent, especially if wet. If I did it again it would be the ascent of a loop.

Great views at the top. Pretty steep at some sections but if you are in decent shape shouldn't be a problem. Dog made it just fine but she's got decent rock climbing skills
