Great! Loved it but Confusing signage once you get to mount Percival to get down! We ended up rock climbing down through the caves- a thrilling experience but wasn’t planned!

Parking was a nightmare, make sure you get here early! There’s no parking on the road near the lots so once they are full, you’re out of luck. I found a spot a mile away. The trail wasn’t crowded which was nice, but not much room at the top. Gorgeous views as the foliage was just popping. Trail was very well marked and my dog loved it. We didn’t run into any water so make sure you don’t forget to bring extra for your fur babies!

Starts off on easy-to-moderate grades, gets steeper and more consistent as you go up. The footing is generally good, and it never gets terribly steep. You have the option near the top to take the ladder route (not for the faint of heart or those who dislike scrambling), or you can continue straight on the main trail. The main ledge has a great view south over the Lakes Region, you can also see Mounts Kearsarge Sunapee, and Cardigan. The true summit has a limited vista north.

Amazing hike. Would definitely do again, my dog and I loved it. We went around the ladders and cave and that was much easier. Summit has no actual view, but there is a path to overlook just prior that is absolutely breathtaking. Would have been a nice hike down, but we went over to percival instead. Older kids can definitely do this too

Nice alternative routes to summit with panoramic views of a southern exposure of multiple lakes. Dogs appear to enjoy the hike, which they find somewhat challenging but doable.

Fun trail and very few people around. Loved the brief scramble, ladders and little cut thru the rocks. Gorgeous view!

Plenty of parking if you get there early enough. Heard conditions on Mt Percival were too icy. So only hip and back down the same trail. We did not attempt the ladders or cave, but if you want to the trail breaks off too the left to do that. You can see the ladders from the main tree approximately 50 feet away.

Moderate trail despite the snow on the ground. Our spikes definitely made our life easier. We didn’t have the courage to climb the ladder and boulders, so we took the alternate trail to the summit, which was much easier. Amazing view on the top and lots of space to rest. Highly recommend this trail!

This was a good hike, lots of effort and one of the longer hikes I’ve done with my kids. The view was okay for the amount of work going up and down. I think this was a good hike, but I’m not sure I would do it again compared to all the other mountains and moderate hikes around NH. However, I do think if you are a regular hiker, then this is a must do just because it is a popular hike and it’s nice to be able to compare it with other hikes.

I loved the view of the lakes from the top, as well as the ladder going one way. I wish I knew about the loop and would have done that instead of backtracking. I'll be back when it's a little warmer to swim in the lake and possibly camp nearby!

Loved this trail! About 2 hours each way. No part too steep to handle, loved the ladder route to the top. Incredible, incredible views of Squam and the White Mountains. I'd definitely recommend doing it in the fall.

This hike was beautiful! A steady incline with a few steep grades. I loved this hike, it is definitely a moderate trail. My counter part does not agree, he chose to pack an extremely heavy pack for his first time out. We took the Cliffs up, which I loved Just be advised there is a rock tunnel you must go through, we had to take our packs off to get through.

A moderate hike with astonishing views from the summit. You can see all of Squam Lake and even past Winnipesaukee to the east and quite a ways south and north, too. We chose to go up the ladders and were glad we did. You have to scramble across some rock face from the ladders to the top but the rock had plenty of grip. I would be extra careful if the surface was wet.

Great hike! Definitely go up the ladders to the cliffs when you get to the top. The view of the lake is absolutely stunning!
